REVIEW: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm Vs Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm has been part of my collection for years & years - it has holy grail status at this stage! I cannot do my make-up routine without it - it helps my foundation to sit better & not cling to any dry patches I might have. No matter how tired or ill I am, this perks my skin up & makes everything look dewy & radiant. I use it after my moisturiser & put my foundation on immediately after application. I use my fingers, but you could use an old style foundation brush also (MAC 190, for example). It can also be used as a mask if you apply a thin layer after cleansing & leave it on for 15 minutes. This product is an all round 10/10 for me.

When I read that Elemis were releasing a similar product, I was very intrigued because I cannot think of any product from Elemis that I have tried that I didn't like. Elemis state that the Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm can be used as a daily moisturiser also, but I have never used it this way - only as a primer, like the Clarins Flash Balm. I adore the scent of the Elemis product - I find it very refreshing & up-lifting & I would describe it as a very light, zingy floral.

Both products have a similar texture - not too creamy, but not as thin as a lotion.
Both brighten the skin.
Both help foundation glide on & blend seamlessly.
Both give a radiance that is not there without using them.

I can honestly say that I love them both - neither makes my skin feel greasy. I am half way through both tubes at the minute & have been wondering which I would repurchase when they run out & I honestly can't say! Maybe Clarins out of loyalty to a product I have loved for years or perhaps it will just come down to which is on offer at the time.

What do you think? Have you tried both & have a preference?

Thanks for reading!
