Empties & speedy reviews #2 featuring Elemis, Clinique, Xen Tan, This Works, Macadamia & more!

So it's empties time again! I am really on a mission this year to clear my shelves of products & use them up, so I've told myself that I can only buy products when I have used some others up! I always store my empties in this  Ursula Celano dressing table jar because it is just so bright & pretty!

I finished 3 small bottles of perfume this month (sob, sob!). The first is from Calvin Klein - a 30ml bottle of Euphoria. This is one of my favourite perfumes & I always like to have a bottle on the go. Luckily I have another larger bottle so I don't need to repurchase just yet. Next is Acqua Di Gioia - this is a beautiful, refreshing scent. It is quite minty & citrusy and I just love having this fragrance in summer. Also, from Armani I have Acqua Di Gio, which is similar but not quite as minty. It smells clean, if that makes sense & very uplifting! I don't have back-ups of either of these unfortunately, so will keep my eye out for any offers!

I have five empty body products. I recently finished the Elemis Pro Radiance Hand Cream & whilst I really loved it, I wouldn't spend £24 on a hand cream for myself - this was part of a gift set that I received last Christmas. It is very moisturising & non-greasy, but there are cheaper alternatives out there. I fly through body moisturisers because I use them daily & the first one that I recently finished is from Soap & Glory. It is Butter Yourself & I adore this body cream. It has a fruity/zesty scent that is very refreshing. It absorbs easily & is very moisturising. Love it! I have already repurchased this!
Next up is Express Hydration from Nivea - this is brilliant, delivers lots of moisture in a non-greasy & easily absorbed lotion. I love Nivea body products, they are so affordable & work very well. I will definitely repurchase this. Finally in body moisturisers is one from Garnier - the Oil Beauty Body Lotion. This is brilliant at moisturising the skin - sinks in quickly, easy to apply & smells gorgeous! I also finished a tube of Xen Tan Ultra Dark Absolute Luxe. I really love Xen Tan products, I find that they are the easiest to use for a non-streaky result, they fade evenly & last about 7 days. I have already repurchased this.

I finished seven skincare products (sob!) recently & there were hits & misses here. First up are three products from Clinique: Take the day off cleansing balm, Repairwear Laser Focus & a small tube of Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+. The cleansing balm is a fantastic product - it is non-scented & very gentle on the skin. It is very waxy in texture & turns into an oil when massaged into the skin. It is an excellent cleanser & leaves the skin feeling very clean. I love it! The Repairwear Laser Focus is a brilliant serum that really makes a difference to the look, feel & texture of the skin. I have used several bottles of this, but on this occasion I won't repurchase because I recently used a sample of their new Smart Serum & could not believe how incredibly soft my skin felt after using it, so I will purchase that instead! The Dramatically Different Moisturising+ lotion is an excellent moisturiser than is much more hydrating that the original formula. It absorbs really well & hydrates the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. Love it! Clinique rocks, in my opinion!

From This Works, I finished a bottle of the 5 in 1 cleansing water. This is designed as a make-up remover - similar to Bioderma but a lot more effective. I'm not a fan of Bioderma, personally as it dries my skin, but this is non-drying. It is an excellent make-up remover, as opposed to cleanser, but I prefer double cleansing with cleansing balms so probably won't repurchase it.

I loved the Jurlique Rosewater balancing mist & am so sad that it is finished! I am big fan of rose-scented anything & this smells so natural rather than synthetic. It does an excellent job at hydrating the skin after exfoliation & is also great for a quick refresh any time of the day! A tip from Jurlique is to pop it in the fridge for an extra bit of refreshment on hot days! Will definitely repurchase & am interested in trying other products in the Jurlique rose range!

I was so gutted to finish my Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate! It is a 30ml bottle, which you think would not last too long but I used it for about 6/7 months. It is an oil that you apply at night in place of your regular moisturiser & it is extremely hydrating. I only needed to use about 2/3 drops to cover my entire face & neck area & the next morning my skin would look plumper & more radiant. Excellent product that I will definitely repurchase.

Finally for skincare, is a product from Olay: their Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Ageing Firming Moisturiser Night Cream. This was given to me by a friend because it didn't suit their skin. I really liked it & found it to be good value for money. It is equally as moisturising as other more expensive night creams I have used before.

I finished another tub of the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. I have already raved about this product on several occasions so won't ramble on any more apart from saying that if you have dry or damaged hair, then you NEED this is your life!

I also finished a small size of the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Blowdry Lotion. I love this range & was really surprised at how much volume it added to my hair. I would prefer the shampoo & conditioner in this range to this product though.

Finally for this empties post is the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. Again, this is a product that I have already raved about so I won't bore you by repeating it all, but THIS WORKS! If you have problems sleeping, then I would highly recommend this to you.

So now my lovely dressing table jar is empty again & I have some space on my shelves! Have you used any of these products?

  1. Wow! This is impressive, you're doing an amazing job of using up your products! I really need to start doing the same thing as I'm running out of space to store products too. But it's sad when things get finished up that I really like! xx
