Foundation favourites featuring Armani, Lancome, Chanel, Nars, YSL & more!

In my quest to find my perfect foundation, I have gathered up quite the collection & I thought I would share my thoughts on them with you today! My skin is dry/dehydrated & I've never found one foundation that sits perfectly all of the time & gives that luminous glow I like. I don't like a matte finish & I like my skin to look dewy. So with that in mind, I have tried & tested many foundations!

First up is one of my favourites that I first used about 7 years ago: Armani Luminous Silk. I used to love Armani's Hydra Glow & was so disappointed when that was discontinued. It wasn't replaced by Luminous Silk as both were available at the same time, but Luminous Silk survived! I do love this foundation. It is lightweight, gives excellent coverage & dries to a satin finish that is not too dewy, but makes the skin look very healthy. I don't find that it clings to any dry patches & always feel very 'done' when I wear this. It is oil free, but non-drying & perfect for dry skin like mine. It doesn't oxidise & lasts pretty much all day on my skin without being powdered.  If you have oily skin, you might like to try its sister: Lasting Silk. Luminous Silk is a foundation that I will repurchase time & time again.

From Nars, I love Sheer Glow which I have previously raved about here. As I said before, it is not actually very sheer - it actually has medium coverage, and the finish it quite like the Luminous Silk. It is quite runny & can really be worked into the skin to give an even finish. I don't use it if my skin is having a very dry moment as it can cling to dry patches. If you have oily skin, try its sister: Sheer Matte.

From Laura Mercier, I love the Silk Crème Foundation. This foundation is like magic for times when your skin is looking a bit rough with blemishes, dullness & just generally lacklustre. It covers all imperfections to leave my skin looking flawless. It is probably the heaviest foundation I own & is very creamy in texture, as opposed to liquid. A tiny pea-sized amount covers my whole face & it doesn't need retouching all day. I tend to use this foundation more in winter when I go for a fuller coverage.

After my skin breaking out from YSL's Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation, I was very hesitant about trying its Forever Youth Liberator Foundation, but because the reviews were so good I took a chance & I am so glad I did! This leaves my skin looking very luminous & even, but not dewy. It is medium coverage & seems to blur any imperfections.

From Lancôme, I have the Teint Miracle Foundation. This is very lightweight, but buildable & leaves the skin looking very radiant & glowy. After a few hours, it needs retouching but it really suits my dry skin.

Makeup Forever's HD foundation was on my radar for a while but is difficult to get hold of this side of the Atlantic, so when my cousin was going to the US I asked her to pick me up a bottle. I am unsure why it is called Invisible Cover, but it is certainly not invisible! I would think that it's actually medium & can be built up to full coverage. It comes in a huge range of shades so there should be something to suit everyone. My skin looks flawless when I use this foundation, but on days where my skin is very dehydrated I find that it can cling to dry patches.

Finally, I have 3 from Chanel. Prolumiere is now discontinued, but I really loved it - it made my skin look flawless & stayed in place all day. I won't rave about it for too long because you can no longer buy it! When I heard it was being discontinued, I stocked up & only opened this one late last year so I can use it for a few more months!

Next I have Vitalumiere Satin Fluid Makeup. This is a very moisturising foundation that is perfect for dry skin. It gives a very luminous finish, but does need to be touched up after 3/4 hours. I don't think it would be suitable for oily skins. Most recently, I purchased Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, which I have raved about here. This is a very lightweight foundation, yet gives very good coverage & is buildable. It is probably my favourite foundation for every day wear as I really don't feel like I am wearing anything on my face.

Sometimes I make my foundations have babies as I call them by mixing them together to suit my skin's needs on a particular day!

What is your favourite foundation?
