REVIEW: YSL Fusion Ink Foundation

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I am a bit of a foundation junkie! My foundation collection post is here, if you want to check out the general types of foundations that I like. When I first heard about YSL's Fusion Ink foundation, I was very intrigued - firstly, because I am a massive YSL fan, but also because I have never tried an ink foundation before - Armani's Maestro & Lancome's Air De Teint never particularly interested me.

I usually don't particularly go for long wearing foundations as they tend to be drying on my skin, so I was definitely hesitant about buying this especially given that it is £30.50 for only 25ml but after seeing so many photos of beauty bloggers wearing this & envying how even their skin looked, I bit the bullet and bought it recently from Feel Unique.

The bottle is quite heavy so not ideal for carrying around in your make-up bag, but it is designed for 24 hour wear (not that I have tested that!) so you would not really need to carry it around. The packaging, as with all YSL products, is very luxe & beautiful. It has a quill style applicator which provides the perfect amount of foundation to cover the face. It can be applied with either the fingers or a brush, I have used both & prefer using a brush - the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is my favourite.

This foundation is extremely lightweight, but offers a very buildable amount of coverage. It erases all imperfections and I only need to use minimal concealer with this foundation. Because I have dry and dehydrated skin, I have to make sure my skin is exfoliated, hydrated and primed before I use this to prevent it clinging to dry patches. I love the lightweight texture of this foundation, I love how it looks on my skin & I love how it lasts on my skin although I doubt I'll ever test the 24 hour claim. If you have extremely parched skin, this would not be suitable for you but I think ladies with any other skin type could make this fantastic foundation work for them. You just need to have a good skincare regime to ensure it would apply evenly and last well.

25mls is less than most foundation bottles contain however because a few drops covers an entire face, I think this would last a very long time.

Have you tried this foundation yet? What are your thoughts?

    1. I think the sample sizes last about 7 days so you can give it a good trial run before investing!
