Two new highlighting additions: theBalm Mary Lou Manizer and Illamasqua Aurora

I'm a big fan of highlighters and I've written a post on my favourite ones here. More recently, I have added three more to my collection and I am going to share my thoughts with you on two of them today. I have one cream highlighter: Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora and one powder highlighter: theBalm Mary Lou Manizer. They are both similar in price at £18 and £16 respectively.

I have had my eye on Illamasqua Aurora for a while because I like cream highlighting products & I already own their cream blush in the shade androgen, so I know that they are good quality. This is probably one of the lightest coloured highlighters that I own and when I saw it in the pan, I was unsure if it would suit my skin tone. It is a champagne colour & I would normally veer towards a warmer tone, but having played with it a few times I think that I can make it work for me. It has fantastic lasting power and it very pigmented & easy to apply. I use a narrow duo-fibre brush or my fingers. I find it works best with a daytime look & gives my skin that dewy, healthy look that I crave.

theBalm is a brand that I have only recently become familiar with and I absolutely love every product that I have tried from them. I've had the Nude Tude palette for a while & it is a really versatile palette, with very pigmented shadows. I was keen to explore more products in the range, so I purchased one highlighting product, one bronzer & two blushes. The Mary Lou Manizer is a stunning product. It is a warm golden colour that is very pigmented and is very shimmery, but not glittery. It has a very buttery consistency, which means that it blends very easily. It is only £16, but gives the finish of a more expensive product. I can see myself using every last bit of it and is in my top three favourite highlighting products. My number one highlighting product will be reviewed on here on Saturday, so keep your eyes out for that!

Have you tried either of these products? What is your favourite highlighter?

  1. I have a sample of the mary lou-manizer and I love it! the texture is fabulous, but I have to use a fan brush to apply it so it doesn't get too frosty!
