REVIEW: bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation

When I saw Jaclyn Hill using this foundation in a tutorial a few months ago, I knew I had to have it. The video was called "How to look fresh & awake when you're exhausted" - it was right up my street! I'm back on treatment for my illness now & I look and feel permanently exhausted so anything that will help to make me look (& therefore feel) a bit better is worth splashing the cash on! Fortunately, this foundation isn't over expensive. At £22.88, it is mid range and certainly a lot cheaper than my other recent foundation purchase -  YSL Fusion Ink. I also bought the Perfecting Face Brush, which at first I thought was a bit indulgent, given that I have plenty of buffing brushes but I am glad I bought it because it works perfectly with this foundation.

The foundation itself is a very thin liquid, even more so than Chanel Vitalumiere. You really have to shake it (like a polaroid picture!) before dispensing a few drops onto the brush. 1/2 drops gives sheer coverage, 3/4 medium coverage & 5/6 for full coverage. I really did not expect such coverage from such a thin liquid - it is phenomenal! I absolutely adore not just the coverage, but also the dewy finish that this foundation gives. It also blurs imperfections and I barely have to use any concealer with it. It has completely exceeded all of my expectations. It doesn't cling to any dry patches & lasts really well on my skin without going patchy. Although it gives very good coverage, I can barely feel it on my skin. It has SPF 20, so great for daytime but not so great for flash photography but I can get over that!

This foundation is noncomedogenic, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and ophthalamologist tested and is formulated without silicone, fragrance, water & oil. What is not to love about this? I can see myself repurchasing this several times over,

Have you tried this foundation?

  1. that's amazing! I can't believe you only need 5/6 drops for full coverage! I bet that bottle will last a while! I'm definitely going to have to check this out! Do you recommend that particular brush for it? Or is there something else that works just as well (or better)!

    1. I'm glad I bought the brush to go with it, even though I have other buffing brushes but I wouldn't say that it is absolutely necessary. Let me know if you try it!
