REVIEW: GLAMGLOW Power Mud Mask

I am a face mask addict, just had to put that out there! They are my favourite treatments to use & hugely important on my never ending quest to achieve hydrated, clear skin. If you have read any of my previous skin care posts, you will already know that I am a huge fan of GLAMGLOW masks, in particular. The Youthmud Mud mask  is excellent for exfoliating & brightening the skin and the ThirstyMud mask is the very best that I have ever used, in terms of hydration. Yes, they are incredibly expensive but they really are worth it and there are usually weekly discount codes in emails from the online shopping sites, so that is the time to grab them.

Given my love for the other masks in the GLAMGLOW range, it was inevitable that I would want to try the new Powermud mask. This mask is different from the other two, in so far as it is a mud to oil mask. It is actually unlike any other mask I have ever used in that respect. The consistency is quite runny, due to the oil, yet it dries to a clay. It has a light warming effect on the skin, but nothing too tingly or concerning (the Youth Mud mask produces more of a tingle). The scent is not great - it smells a little like gone off apples, or the pulp that is left over after you make apple juice, but it soon dissipates so don't let that put you off. I have had this mask for 2 weeks now & have used it twice weekly in those two weeks & am ready to share my thoughts with you today.

My main skin concern is lack of hydration & dullness. I have a little congestion on my chin & sometimes around my nose but would not say that I have acne prone skin. This mask is excellent at delivering a deep clean. Like I said before, it applies like a liquid, dries like a clay & then you add warm water and this turns it back to an oil, before rinsing it off. Because of the combination of four oils (prickly pear, pine, frankincense & myrrh - almost the complete Christmas trilogy!), I expected it to be a little more hydrating than it actually is. I find that when I remove the mask, I then need to follow with my Thirsty Mud or with a facial oil to get some moisture back in there. That being said, my skin is so deeply cleansed & has never looked clearer. I have sensitive skin & find that usually deep cleansing masks leave my skin looking irritated, inflamed & red, but not this one. It just looks very clean, clear & even. I am really happy to have this mask in my collection as I actually don't own any other mask like it. I don't think you need to own all three masks, like I do. Just pick your main skin concern & choose accordingly. I really believe that GLAMGLOW masks are the very best out there.

Have you tried any GLAMGLOW masks? What is your favourite deep cleansing mask?

  2. I still need to pick up my beloved Youthmud and Thirstymud before I can even think of buying this. But I am intrigued of the formula, mud to oil sounds amazing. Maybe I'll pop it on my Christmas list and see what happens :D x
