REVIEW: Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

If you have read my blog for a while, you will know that I love mascaras! I shared my collection here last summer & have added more since then, from Stila, Tarte, Lancome and Too Faced to name a few. I like my lashes to be very black, I don't like the crispy feel that some mascaras give and I like volume also. My Holy Grail mascara is YSL Faux Cils, with Too Faced Better Than Sex being a close second. I have tried BADGal Lash & They're Real mascaras from Benefit before & didn't really like either of them to be honest so I was unsure whether I should even bother trying their latest offering: Roller Lash. However, I received a discount code from Feel Unique for £10, which reduced the price of the mascara to £9.50 so thought I'd give it a whirl and I am so glad I did!

Benefit are known for their retro packaging & they live up to expectations yet again with this mascara. I really like the pink & black box with silver stars on the side that this mascara comes in. I also love the retro roller style lid on the mascara itself. On the box, it states that 97% of people who use this mascara said it visibly lifts lashes, 87% said it gives long-lasting curl and 94% said eyes look more wide open. Pretty bold claims! My lashes are quite long, but not very dark and not very curly. I always use an eyelash curler so I was curious how this mascara would work without one.

The wand itself is plastic, which I am not always keen on. It is curved on one side and the other side has very short, very fine bristles. The idea of this shape is that you can hook the wand on to your lashes at the root and then roll out to the end of the lash and lift. I was dubious as to how much life & curl there could be, but I very was pleasantly surprised at the result. My lashes look as though they have been curled. I apply three coats & this gives volume, lift and curl - what more could I possible ask for? My only problem is that it can smudge my eyelids because lashes are quite long - not super long but when curled, I have to be extra careful when applying mascara, so now I use a tissue to protect my eyelid. This mascara is very comfortable to wear and doesn't give the dreaded crispy feeling. Furthermore, it also maintains the lift & curl, which not all mascaras do and it is easy to remove without rubbing the eye area. Overall, this mascara gets a very big thumbs up from me! I am really happy to have taken the chance & bought it.

Have you tried this mascara yet? What's your favourite mascara?
