The original beautyblender review

I have been debating buying a beautyblender for a few years now. I bought the Real Techniques equivalent and was pretty happy with that but the beautyblender was always hovering in the back of my mind and the more I read about it, the more I wanted it. It was an itch that needed to be scratched & when Beautybay had a recent sale, I scratched it!
There were a few to choose from, but I decided to go with the original one. The white version just seems like a really bad idea because I feel it would be impossible to clean!

When it arrived, I must admit that I was taken aback at just how small it is! It is smaller than my baby finger so I can only imagine how tiny the micro mini versions are! Once wet, it doubles in size and then some (you need to completely saturate it and then squeeze the excess water out)! Using this to do my foundation takes longer than usual, so I am unsure if I would use it on a daily basis. Having said that, the result is flawless foundation that looks airbrushed. The pointy end is brilliant for getting into the side of the eyes and around the nose. I really enjoy using it & spend a good amount of time bouncing my foundation into my skin until I am totally happy. I find it very relaxing!

I have also used it to apply cream blush and it makes the process a lot less intimidating and I also found that it worked really well with my Chanel Soleil de Tan and Smashbox Contour Sticks. I didn't buy the brush cleaner this time, but think the next time I buy one, I will buy the solid cleanser too.

Have you tried the beautyblender yet?

  8. I miss my beauty blender and sometimes fancy buying another one. The only thing I don't like is the hassle to wash it every single time we use it. Mine got mouldy. :-/ But overall, no other sponge compares to this one in my opinion.

Hope you also have a lovely bank holiday weekend! :) x

  9. The washing every time puts me of using it daily. Can't believe it got mouldy! Will have to keep an eye out for that!

  11. I love my BB and can't be without it! I normally opt for medium to high coverage foundation and BB blends them beautifully into my skin without looking heavy/cakey. I also can't imagine applying my concealer without the BB. Also, my BB never got moulded and I've had already 3, you don't have to wash it daily if you don't see the need for it but always leave it to dry in an open space and not in the bathroom where the humidity is higher and the BB can get mouldy. x

  14. I love the beautyblender and actually like it more than the RT version. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out on the next beautybay sale and pick up one or two more along with the solid cleaner to see what all the fuss is about that x

  17. I've still yet to get to grips with my BB. I think it'll just take a bit more practice though.
I think I'll keep an eye out for the next beautybay sale :)
