Speedy reviews #3 Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray & Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream

So it's speedy reviews time again. If you didn't see the previous instalments, these posts will feature products that don't really warrant full review posts on their own so each one will feature at least two items that I have been using for a while and want to share my thoughts on. Today I am sharing my thoughts on Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Cream and Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray.

I will begin with the Clinique product. For reference, I have dry and dehydrated skin and what I like to achieve with my skincare routine is plump, clear, moisturised and radiant skin (don't we all?!). I had previously used Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, but that was when I was in my early 20s and as I neared my 30s, I found that it wasn't moisturising enough for my skin any more and changed all of my skincare to Dermalogica. Last year, I received a freebie with a magazine of the newer version, which had a + at the end of the name. I liked it, but again it just wasn't moisturising enough for my skin. However, when I saw that Clinique were were releasing a cream version, I decided to give it a go. At €30 for a 50ml tub, it was about half the price of my previous day cream so I was hoping I would love it and be on to a winner. It is aimed at very dry to dry skin and irritated skin - basically all that my skin is! It contains hyaluronic acid, glycerine and dimethicone - the latter I hadn't heard of previously but the first two ingredients feature in a lot of my skincare products because hydration is my main concern. As you would expect, this cream is very similar to the original lotion - yellow and fragrance free but is richer in texture, again as you would expect from a cream.

This cream is definitely moisturising and sinks in immediately, leaving my skin soft and plump, however I find that after my skin feels and looks quite dry again after a few hours. Given that it is aimed at very dry skin, I found this surprising. However, it must be said that my skin is very awkward and demanding and it is exasperated by the fact I have a chronic illness, but also by the fact that I am on a lot of medications at times (although I am currently on a short break). Therefore, for normal/dry skin without my extra requirements, I think this could work quite well. On a good skin day, I found this to be a good base for make-up.

Overall, I don't dislike this moisturiser, it just doesn't hydrate my skin as much as I would like.

Next up is a hair product: Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray. I wanted a finishing spray, which added shine rather than texture and I found that some made my hair feel heavy & quite greasy, which is not what I wanted. I decided to give this Moroccanoil spray a try because although I find the original oil a little heavy at times, there is no denying that it adds a great shine to the hair. At €27 for 100ml, it certainly isn't the cheapest shine spray so I decided to buy the 50ml bottle to try first.

I literally use this as the last step in my haircare routine, on completely dry and styled hair, to add shine. I hold it about 12 inches from my hair and spray 2 pumps on my hair. This product has the same scent as the original oil, which I personally love and it makes my hair look very glossy. It also does so without adding any weight or making my hair greasy. I love this product and will definitely repurchase when this bottle runs out. One tip is to be careful not to let any residue get on the floor as it makes it very slippy, so if you have tiles or wooden floors then I would recommend standing on a mat or towel.

Have you tried either of these products or are you tempted to? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below or any recommendations for similar products.
