I absolutely love when Clarins release their summer collection (see last year's post here) because it really gets me excited for summer and sun holidays! The limited edition bronzer is a cult product that will see you through at least 12 months but it's different every year and the other products in the range vary too so I always love when it's time for the summer collection to be released. I was lucky enough to be sent the collection, which I have been using for the last fortnight and want to share my thoughts with you today. The collection always sells out quickly, which is why I wanted to get my review to you as early as possible!
Usually there is only bronzing compact released but this year, we've been spoilt with two options, which is a welcome addition! The compact contains 100g of product housed in a gorgeous case with shades of red, gold and white in a print, which looks to me to be Moroccan. It definitely screams summer! Inside is a large mirror, which is perfect for topping up makeup on the go but would also be suitable for doing your whole face, eliminating the need to bring a separate mirror on holiday.
The two shades available are: Sunset Glow and Sunrise Glow. Sunset Glow contains a soft pink blush, a bronzer and a champagne highlighter. The size of each product is big enough to get brushes into individually with ease. The bronzer adds some warmth to the face and could be used to add some definition but is not cool enough to use for a contour. The blush, highlighter and bronzer complement each other really well as the tones all lean on the warm side but are soft in tone. In Sunrise Glow, there are three bronzers, which can be used separately or you can swirl your brush over all three and sweep over the face for a sunkissed look. Obviously, these can also be used on the eyes too, as with the products in Sunset Glow, making the the perfect holiday product because it's multipurpose. The powders are very smooth in texture and are infused with soft-focus pigments and pearls to help skin to look smooth and radiant, which is very welcome if you have textured or porous skin. They also help to protect against environmental aggressors, thanks to extracts of white tea and nipplewort, which are part of Clarins Anti-Pollution Complex. These bronzing compacts are priced at £32 each, which I think is pretty reasonable given the amount of product you get. With use every day, they will last for at least a year!
There are three stunning new shades of Water Lip Stains within the collection. I personally love the glittery lids of the packaging. These lip stains are comprised of 77% water with aloe vera extract and organic raspberry water. These lip stains are cooling and extremely comfortable on the lips (they also taste delicious and I can't help licking my lips!) and while the swatches look heavily pigmented, they fade to a stain.
The three new shades are: 05 Sparkling Rose Water (hot pink), 06 Sparking Red Water (orangey-red) and 07 Sparkling Violet Water (deep purpley-pink). They can be layered to achieve a bold colour but will always fade to a stain that is pretty long-lasting. These will definitely be coming on holiday with me next month because they lift the complexion and are very light-feeling on the lips.
Finally, there is a new addition to the Waterproof Liner lineup: Blue Lily. This liner has a precision tip for a crisp line but you can also smudge the line out if you prefer that look. Eye liners are an easy way to add a pop of colour if you aren't confident with using strong coloured eyeshadows and waterproof are especially good in summer when the sun can make eyes water.
This is another winning summer collection from Clarins! I would love if they added some bright coloured nail polishes next year just to really finish the collection off!
