Mother's Day Gift Guide

Gift Guide, Mother's Day, Mother's Day Gift Guide,
If anything was gifted to me, it will be marked with a *

Mother's Day in the UK & Ireland is on the 22nd so there isn't a lot of time left to choose a gift for your mother/step mother/mother in law or maybe somebody who has been like a mother to you. Of course, if you are lucky enough to be a mother yourself, you might be hoping for a treat from your children or your other half so if you spot something in this gift guide, leave the laptop open to drop a hint! Of course, it isn't always about material things and it shouldn't just happen on just one day of the year but I personally love to spoil my mother on Mother's Day! When we were kids, the night before Mother's Day, my Dad would take my four siblings & I into a room with a card each to write for our Mam and a gift. Then the following morning, we would pick some flowers from the garden and make breakfast in bed and rush to my parents' room to give my mother her cards, flowers, gifts and breakfast. She still says that it meant the world to her and she misses those days. We might not do breakfast in bed these days but the day is always still special. I have plenty of gift ideas to share with you today and there should be something to suit all budgets so I hope I can provide some inspiration for you. I was kindly sent some of these products, all of which are marked with a * This post is not sponsored.

Instead of doing the guide by budget, as I did at Christmas, I am going to do it by category. We have skincare, bath & body, fragrance, candles & diffusers, makeup, jewellery and a few other ideas....

Sarah Chapman Glow

Skincare: I had to start with this category as it's a favourite for both my mother & I. One product that I recommend year after year is Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, which I have reviewed here. This product does everything - hydrates, repairs, strengthens, renews, brightens and more, but it is only with consistent use that you will see the difference in your skin. I can't imagine any mother not loving this serum as it improves the skin in so many ways. SVR Laboratories Densitium Rose-Tinted Firming Cream* is ideal for those who are beginning to notice that their skin is sagging or becoming slack and less elasticized, which can be due to age, lack of sleep, bad diet etc. It is packed with hyaluronic acid and other skin firming ingredients and the slight rose tint helps to blur the appearance of fine lines to create a softly filtered look. Another moisturiser that I highly recommend is Drunk Elephant Lala Whipped Retro Whipped Cream, which nourishes and brightens the skin without feeling at all heavy and it also repairs and protects the skin. I love when brands sell sets of minis so that you can try a number of products without spending too much money and one for those with oily skin is Caudalie Vinopure Blemish Control Set*, which contains three deluxe sample sized products (cleanser, toner and serum) with a value of £37 but a price tag of £29. Sarah Chapman Glow* is a particularly fantastic Mother's Day Gift as not only is it a fantastic product (protecting the skin from free radical damage as well as encouraging collagen production) but the sales also support the Women supporting Women Initiative, making it an ideal gift for this occasion. Who doesn't want to wake to better skin? I recommend Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask* to soooooo many people but it would be especially beneficial to busy Mums who don't have time for an elaborate routine. This mask is applied to cleansed skin and every single time I use it, I wake to clear, soft and radiant skin. It's a non-negotiable in my routine that I have bought several times since first receiving in PR. It has a gel texture but don't worry, you won't stick to the pillow! Full review here. If you have a large budget and your mother (or you), take skincare seriously, then you might want to treat her (or yourself) to Omorovicza The Cure*. There will be a full review coming very soon but this is a 9 day skin transformation programme, which restores luminosity and vitality to tired, stressed and dull skin.

Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub Review

Caudalie Vinosculpt Review

Bath & BodyWho can say no to a good night's sleep? I would bet that there isn't anybody who wouldn't adore Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts because (in my experience), they guarantee to almost put me into a coma! I always, always fall into a deep sleep after a bath using these salts. For super soft skin, a scrub with a touch of luxury that Ii highly recommend is Omorovicza Gold Sugar Scrub*, which I reviewed here. A body cream always helps with slack, dry skin and recently, Caudalie released a new Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream*. Not only does it smell beautiful, with notes of orange blossom. This is perfect to use now in the run up to summer as it helps to make skin more supple and elasticized. It's perfect for use all over the body but especially the bum, stomach, arms, boobs and thighs. Even though t's a cream, it absorbs quite easily but my preference is to use it at night rather than in the morning as I tend to use a lotion in the morning. This would make a gorgeous gift as it's a real treat to use after a relaxing bath. Finally, I think a hand cream makes a gorgeous gift - I am personally never without one and now that everyone is washing their hands much more frequently due to the Coronavirus, hands are feeling drier than ever so there couldn't be a better time to buy a hand cream. For those whose hands are starting to show the signs of ageing (one of the first areas, along with the neck), I recommend Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen Hand Cream*. This is super nourishing and yet doesn't feel greasy at all. It contains algae and other ingredients, which help to renew the skin, leaving hands feeling super soft. A more affordable option is MOR Kashmir Petals Hand Cream*, which smells incredible and combines argan oil with shea butter and glycerin, among other really nourishing ingredients. Finally, it wouldn't be a Beautylymin Gift Guide if I didn't include a L'Occitane hand cream and I always have one on the go. These hand creams are super nourishing, come in an array of scents and absorb super quickly to leave hands soft.

Diego Della Palma Nuda Palette Review

Dear Dahlia Lipstick Review

Makeup: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is a product that I think all mothers would appreciate because it instantly brightens and tightens skin to make it look fresh and radiant. It's the perfect primer for any foundation but can also be used as a mask. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is like a filter for the skin. It blurs the appearance of pores and mattifies the skin without it looking too caked - it just gives the skin a polished look and doesn't settle into fine lines. Who wouldn't love it? Becca Glow Silk Highlighter Drops work so well with skin of all ages as they don't settle into fine lines and the intensity can be built up from a subtle glow to  'seen from outer space' highlight. A classic neutral eyeshadow palette, with some hints of colour, is Diego Della Palma Nuda Palette*. This will suit all eye colours and with a combination of 12 matte and metallic shades, there are countless ways it can be worn, both day and night! Finally, who can resist a luxury lipstick? The stunning marble packaging of Dear Dahlia lipsticks* is hard to resist! Pigmented and creamy - this is a dreamy combination, available in 10 shades, there is sure to be something to suit everyone! I also had to mention Pat McGrath lipsticks as not only is the packaging striking, the formula of both the matte and the satin lipsticks is comfortable on the lips. They are the ultimate treat!

Fragrance: Fragrance is a gift that I love to both give and receive and I have gorgeous picks here today. There is a Jo Malone fragrance for every taste and they really are a special treat gift and are always beautifully presented. Two of my favourites are Velvet Rose and Oud, from the Intense range and Wood Sage and Sea Salt. There is a guide on the site to help you choose - you can narrow down to fruity, sweet, floral etc and then it gives you options for each category and also what other scents they layer well with. Angel Eau De Toilette* is housed in the classic star shaped bottle but it is a lot lighter than the original - less sweet and heavy and it would make a gorgeous Spring fragrance. Chloe Nomade is a fresh, feminine scent with a hint of warmth. It's both woody and citrusy but with the perfect balance of both. Another perfect Spring scent is Herbae Par L'Occitane L'Eau*, which is a light, fresh, citrus and floral scent that instantly lifts the spirits and embodies freedom! Finally, a truly stunning scent from Le Couvent called Aqua Mysteri*. This is an invigorating scent due to its citrus notes but it also smells clean and fresh. It's very light so it's ideal for those who usually find a lot of fragrances to be overpowering.

Overose Candle and Clean Reserve Diffuser review

Candles/Diffusers: Another category that I absolutely love to give and receive is home fragrance. I just find that lighting a candle relaxes me instantly and adds some atmosphere to a room. My absolute favourite candle brand is Overose because it the candles both look beautiful in their pink case with matching wax, but the scent combinations are absolutely beautiful. L'Occitane* released a range of beautiful candles late last year and I adore all of them but I particularly love the Uplifting Candle*, which combines notes of eucalyptus, basil, cypress and more and it instantly lifts the spirits, as the name suggests. MOR Strawberry & White Jasmine* candle is a soy candle with a subtle fruity, floral scent, I love strawberries but dislike anything that smells fake or synthetic - truly you can't go wrong with this candle. A diffuser is a great gift for a house with young children as most people are wary about lighting candles in a house with kids. Clean Reserve Warm Cotton Diffuser* smells so comforting. It smells like fresh laundry but with a hint of warmth, like a subtle vanilla. It smells like a warm hug - just beautiful!

Abellini Jewellery review, Crystals & Co x Jodie Review

Jewellery: Jewellery is a very personal gift but you can't really go wrong with a pair of diamond stud earrings* (or in this case, cubic zirconia but it looks pretty convincing!). Abelini *Jewellery have a range of jewellery - from engagement rings to pendants and earrings with something to suit all budgets. They also have a show room and can create a bespoke designed piece of jewellery. They are definitely worth checking out for a special occasion. I absolutely love the jewellery in the Crystals & Co x Jodie Wood collection and have worn my evil eye necklace practically every day since my husband bought it for me. One that will be particularly popular for Mother's Day is the beautiful Mama necklace. The quality of this collection is excellent and the prices are really reasonable.

Miscellaneous: This is the section where anything goes - from pink champagne to create a champagne afternoon tea at home to a Rifle Paper Co x Corkcicle Tumbler*, which will keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. Other suggestions are to book in for a makeover together at a counter, buy a magazine subscription or buy concert or theatre tickets, which is what I have bought my mother this year. The concert isn't until the end of May so I am hoping that the Coronavirus will have buggered off by then and that the concert will still go ahead!

If you really can't decide what to buy, the Look Fantastic Mother's Day Collection 2020 is amazing value, with £220 of products for only £59. It contains a combination of bath, body, skincare, makeup and a candle, all housed in a gorgeous box! I'm not a mother but I'm tempted to buy it for myself!

I really hope that this will have served as some inspiration for you. Do you usually celebrate Mother's Day? is your gift organised yet? I'd love to hear!
