At the moment, I'm using a mix of new products, and others that I want to finish. I'm also in that transitional makeup phase, where I tend to go brighter with my lip picks (sometimes - I'm a nude girl at heart!), and lighter with my base. However, in the past 2/3 weeks, we've had some very sunny days, a storm, snow, sleet and hailstones, so I can't really call this a Spring makeup edit, as the weather is so changeable! Anyway, less weather talk and more makeup!
I have two primers that I'm almost finished. The first is Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminiser Primer, and the second is Cover FX Gripping Primer, which I can't seem to find in stock anywhere, and the sites that do stock some products, have very few, so I have a feeling that this brand may be heading in the same direction as Becca and Marc Jacobs! The former primer adds luminosity, which is perfect for dull skin days, but what I really love about it is the blurring effect it has on pores and fine lines, because usually anything that is illuminating isn't kind to pores or textured skin. The latter primer is ideal for hot days, or when wearing makeup that you need to last all day, particularly under a mask, as foundation literally grips to it, and doesn't budge, yet it doesn't make your skin feel tight or uncomfortable. It's more suited to oily skin, but perfect for under mask makeup (yes, I'm still wearing a mask and will be for the foreseeable - each to their own).
For my base, I'm rotating between IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, which I absolutely love (as you can see from the tube!), Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation (review here), and Nars Light Reflecting Foundation (review here). I love the coverage that the CC Cream gives, with a little going a long way, and on days when I want lighter coverage and some luminosity, I'll go between the other two foundations. It's hard to choose a favourite between the two!
I'm trying to finish my bareMinerals Full Coverage Serum Concealer (another discontinued product, as far as I am aware), which is perfect for my dry under eye area. For the rest of my face, I'm using Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer, which is ideal for covering any blemishes, or areas of redness.
Powder is By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Pressed Powder, which sets everything, without taking away any luminosity. Bronzer is either Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer, or Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Bronzer, if I decide to just use cream products. The case is similar with blush - it's either Fenty Beauty Petal Poppin' Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush, or Hourglass Dim Infusion - still one of my favourite blushes!
When it comes to highlighter, I've found myself reaching for Refy Gloss Highlighter, which gives the skin the most gorgeous glow, without the megawatt look.
I'm trying to finish my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, so I'm using that alongside a mini Dipbrow Gel; both of which are almost finished and then I'll move on to others that are on standby.
I'm really enjoying the new IT Cosmetics No-Tug Shadow Sticks*, as they're so quick and easy to use. I have a review of these and other shadow sticks coming soon.
I'm using Natasha Denona Macroblade Liquid Liner, as I can't be without my cat flick, and I'm finishing two mascaras: IT Cosmetics Superhero and Too Faced Better Than Sex, which give me both length and volume.
For my lips, I'm still keeping it pretty minimal, as I wear a mask whenever I leave the house, so it's generally Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk or Iconic Nude, with Clarins Natural Lip Perfector, or sometimes a YSL coral shade - this mini lipstick was in a gift set.
I'm looking forward to finishing the products that are nearly empty, so that I can move on to some new products. It takes me so much longer to finish makeup than skincare!
As the season progresses, I'll probably stick entirely to cream products (eyes, cheeks, highlighter), with a setting spray, rather than powder, and a lighter base and tinted lip balm. For now, with the unpredictable weather, these products are working well for me.
Have you switched up your makeup for Spring yet? I'd love to hear!
