For the love of scrub! REVIEW: Body scrub comparison featuring L'Oreal, Clarins, L'Occitane, The Body Shop & More!

If you want soft skin, you have to exfoliate. If you want an even tan, you have to exfoliate. If you want to get rid of dead skin, you need to exfoliate. If you want your skin to glow, you need to exfoliate............ are you getting the picture?! I love a good scrub & usually do so twice a week - some people need to do it more often, some less so but everybody needs to do it! I have a little body scrub collection built up & I love trying out new products, but I do tend to get through them quite quickly! I use scrub gloves with a shower gel on a regular basis, but I also need more than that to keep my skin soft & supple. Depending on your skin, how often you tan, the weather where you live & a variety of other factors, you may only need to exfoliate once a week, or possibly up to 3/4 times a week. It's up to the individual, but I like to use a body scrub twice a week for a deep exfoliation. I have 6 body scrubs to review for you today - 2 budget, 2 mid-price & 2 high end. I'll start with the budget brands.

First up is the L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Exfotonic Body Polishing Gel Tan Optimiser (why do so many products have such long names these days?!).
This scent of this product is so refreshing & uplifting! It has a gel texture, but has plenty of grit in there to give your skin a really good scrub without ripping it! It is perfect for use as a pre-tan exfoliator as it is not oily & therefore will not interfere with your tan development. I love this body scrub & have used it for years. I always come back to it & often find it to be be much more effective than expensive body scrubs. This is a steal at £7.99.

Next is a recent addition to my bathroom cabinet: Garnier Oil Beauty Oil-Infused Nourishing Scrub. I am a sucker of products with oil in them as I find they really help with hydration. This scrub is infused with 4 oils: Argan, Macadamia, Almond & Rose - all scents that I love! This product is slightly less gritty than the previous one, but is very effective. I especially love it paired with the body lotion from the same range: Garnier Oil Beauty Oil-Infused Nourishing Lotion. When I use both of these products, my skin feels baby soft! Another absolute bargain at £7.15.

The next two products are not terribly expensive either, just slightly more than the previous two. First up is the coconut body scrub from The Body Shop. I love the scrubs from The Body Shop - they are creamy, yet still give the body a good exfoliation, leaving it feeling very smooth & this works well on sensitive skin. This is a pleasure to use & I adore the coconut scent, but if that is not for you, they have many other scents! A good mid-priced scrub at £13.

Next up is a scrub from Soap & Glory. I have the Sugar Crush Body Scrub, which smells divine! It contains brown sugar & sweet lime, almond oil & macadamia grains. Whilst I adore the scent of this product, I am not crazy about the texture - it feels quite gloopy to me & not quite gritty enough to scrub effectively. However, Soap & Glory have five other scrubs in its range so I am sure I would find one there for everyone. I will try some of the others next time they are on 3 for 2 in Boots! A great price at £8.

The final two body scrubs that I currently own are L'Occitane Almond Delicious Paste & Clarins Toning Body Polisher. I'll start with the L'Occitane product - now this will obviously only appeal to you if you like the scent of almonds & I do! This is not quite as gritty as some of the previous scrubs, yet it delivers a very effective exfoliation & it leave the skin feeling very smooth. I don't own the almond body oil from the same range, so can only imagine that the combination of the two products would leave you with baby soft skin!

I've saved the best 'till last! I simply adore this Clarins Body Scrub! The scent makes you feel like you are at a spa & using this is a real treat! It contains salt crystals & this really delivers an excellent exfoliation & really invigorates the skin. I feel so pampered when I use this product! I never want to run out! If you really feel like spoiling yourself, then this is the body scrub for you!

A special honorary mention has to go to The Sanctuary Body Scrub & The Sanctuary Salt Scrub, both of which I love, but just don't currently own so can't show you. They are very effective, very affordable & are often on 3 for 2 in Boots. On my current wishlist is Clinique's Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream, which I have hear amazing things about. I just need to clear some space in my cabinet first!

What are your favourites? Do you have any recommendations for me?
