REVIEW: Margaret Dabbs Lotion & Mousse Gift Set

I am a daily foot cream user, which keeps the skin pretty soft but I also suffer with sole pain as a result of having both Chronic Lyme Disease and Bartonella. At times, it is excruciating and I can go through periods where there is no respite at all and it is painful to stand or walk at all. I know that foot creams will not necessarily help the pain as they are designed to moisturise the skin, but out of desperation and in the hope of some relief, I decided to try some products from Margaret Dabbs (a.k.a. the queen of podiatry). I have been using the two products for around 4 weeks now and want to share my thoughts on them with you today.

I wasn't sure which products to get at first as she sells a variety of oils, creams and lotions so I decided this gift set, which contains a 200ml lotion and 100ml mousse (scrub) was a good place to start. It was quite pricey at €50.04 but I had some money in my paypal account so it eased the pain slightly! The reason I chose Margaret Dabbs products over other brands is that she uses Emu Oil in her products, which has healing properties and that appealed to me more than any creams that simply moisturise. Of course, I don't have unrealistic expectations that it will eliminate the diseases I have, but it definitely sounded better than using something that simply softens the skin.

The first product I used was the Foot Mousse. This contains tea tree leaf and pumice, which exfoliate and the emu oil then rehydrates the skin. It comes with a small spatula, which I really like and it prevents me from using too much product. I really massage this product into my skin and scrub the entire sole, in between my toes and my heel. A little goes a long way with this product and I found that it left my skin feeling really soft but not necessarily less painful (although the massaging helped a little). It is certainly much better than other foot scrubs I have used.

The Foot Lotion is the star of the show, for me. The first thing to hit me was the really beautiful lemon scent - I absolutely adore anything citrus-scented because I find them to be invigorating and uplifting. It is a very creamy lotion, but easy to rub in and absorbs very quickly so you don't need to worry about slipping on the floor afterwards. I find that when I apply this lotion, my feet feel very soothed, comfortable and above all, soft! Seriously, the softest they have ever felt. I use this on a daily basis and always feel like I am walking on a duvet afterwards! I absolutely adore this lotion and will definitely be repurchasing when I finish this bottle because it has really helped to ease my pain.

Of course the pain hasn't disappeared entirely - I am suffering from chronic diseases, after all, but it has certainly helped to ease the suffering, which I am extremely grateful for. If I lived near a clinic, I would be very tempted to go in for a treatment, but in the meantime I will continue to use the products. I would love to try more from the range - the foot oil, in particular and also the hand products, which are the latest releases from the brand.

If you suffer from sole pain and tired feet or very dry skin on your feet, then I would really recommend that you invest in these products - think of it as an investment in yourself because the products really will help to make daily life easier!

I'd love to know if you have tried any of the other products in the Margaret Dabbs range? What is your favourite foot creams or treatments for times when your feet are really bothering you?
