Review & Swatches: Bobbi Brown Fever Dream Palette

Review & Swatches: Bobbi Brown Fever Dream Palette

Last December, Laura from Laura Louise Beauty, and I did a Secret Santa exchange in conjunction with Look Fantastic. Laura chose so well for me because she knows I'm a palette addict and I often lust over her Bobbi Brown posts but, for some reason, it's a brand that I have tried very little from. Laura also knows that I am a warm toned shadow lover so the Fever Dream palette couldn't be more perfect for me! It's sold out almost everywhere but you can still find it on the UK Bobbi Brown site, if you are interested (it's also reduced in the sale!).

The box matches the casing that the palette is housed in, with rust and neutral tones to reflect the shadows inside. The packaging is a sturdy cardboard with a slightly 3D outer case on the lid and a mirror in the inside.

Review & Swatches: Bobbi Brown Fever Dream Palette

There are five shadows in the palette, ranging from nude to rust with a variety of matte, metallic and shimmer finishes, making it a versatile palette.

From left to right, the shades are:

Ivory: the perfect matte base shade that isn't the most pigmented but can be layered.

Hot Honey: a light gold that is beautiful worn as a single wash of colour but also layered with some other shadows.

Bronze Light: A true bronze shimmer that applies smoothly and evenly. My favourite shadow in the entire palette.

Red Rock: A beautiful rust matte that again can be worn alone but also looks stunning in the crease when worn with Bronze Light and Undercover to create a smokey eye.

Undercover: A warm deep brown matte, perfect for deepening the crease and smoking up any eye look.

There is a little bit of kickback in the pan when using the shadows but once the brush is tapped on the edge of the palette, this doesn't generally transfer to the face. The formula of the shadows isn't overly creamy, yet it's very easy to work with and blend. The pigmentation is spot on - can be layered without looking muddy or can easily be applied lightly for a wash of colour. Sometimes when shadows are extremely pigmented, they aren't the easiest the work with unless you're a pro artist or have lots of time to spend applying makeup so this palette is ideal for regular makeup wearers - it's easy to work with.

The tones are exactly up my street and I will wear them just as much in summer as in winter as these colours tend to make my green eyes pop! I also like how compact the palette is so it will be ideal for taking on holiday and weekends away.

I have a feeling this won't be my last Bobbi Brown palette. My code LYMIN gives a 20% discount on lots of brands and products on the Look Fantastic site (Bobbi Brown makeup included) so if you fancy treating yourself, don't forget to use that code at the checkout to make the saving, It's valid until the end of February!

Are you a fan of Bobbi Brown makeup? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this palette?
