One of my non-beauty loves: Handbags

Saint Laurent Uptown Clutch

My intention in 2020 was to include more lifestyle posts but Covid put a stop to that, and pretty much everything else! I know lots of people were able to go on staycations, or even abroad, but I've been too ill to go anywhere. Hopefully 2021 will be the year that I start to introduce some lifestyle, but for now, I thought that I'd share with you one of my biggest loves, outside of beauty (although they are things of beauty!) - handbags! I'm not a fashion blogger and tend to spend most of my time in pyjamas these days so these are not styled posts, nor do I have a massive collection, but as both of these things change, I will share them on Instagram. I don't go for 'trend' bags, purely because I prefer classics that I will use time and time again. The Bottega Veneta clutch last year is one example of the kind of bag I wouldn't go for because it was very expensive but also, pretty obvious that it would date quickly. I can understand why fashion bloggers buy them because they are probably either gifted them, receive a press discount, or, simply, because it's their job to show the latest trends. The small number of bags that I own are ones that I will wear for years. If I can find any discounts, I will add them at the end, in case you are interested in buying any of them.

Gucci Soho Disco Bag Review
Gucci Soho Disco bag

The first bag is my Gucci Soho Disco bag, which I featured in this post. This is my most used bag and one I lusted after for a few years as it's been popular for around 4 years now, with good reason. It's compact, yet can fit everything I need. phone, hand sanitiser, hand cream, card holder (I have a Gucci one to match), makeup and a few other bits. The dimensions are W21cm x H15cm x D7cm and the strap has a 55cm drop. I love crossbody bags because I'm often just too tired to carry a bag and went through years of shoulder and back ache in university carrying heavy bags around. I love the grained leather, which means that it wears well and because the logo is subtle, I don't feel too flashy, which is not my style.

Saint Laurent Lou Medium Crossbody bag review

Next up is another crossbody bag, the Saint Laurent Lou Medium Crossbody bag, which I bought on Matches Fashion when they had a brilliant sale in the early stages of lockdown. I actually thought it was going to be more white in the flesh, but this Vintage White shade will work in winter too. Again, I like the convenience of the crossbody element, the simple logo and the tassle. The dimensions are pretty much the same as the Gucci bag, although there are some smaller and larger in size in this line, some of which are quilted and I have my eye on maybe one more.

Saint Laurent Tote Review

Next up is another Saint Laurent (can you sense a trend?!) - it's the shopper tote in a pale pink, which I have had my eye on for a few years and was lucky enough to be treated to as an early birthday present when it had a 30% discount in the Brown Thomas sale earlier this year. I love this bag because it will hold A LOT, plus it has a pouch attached, for my phone, card holder etc. The dimensions are H 31 x W 40 x D 20cm. Handle drop: 24cm. It's a shoulder bag, which is not my favourite but I adore the colour and size of this bag.

Saint Laurent Uptown Pouch Review

Another Saint Laurent bag is the Uptown Pouch, which for me is the perfect clutch bag and a chain can easily be added to make it a shoulder bag, which could be bought on Amazon or Etsy, and would make it a lot more affordable than the brand's other shoulder bags. The dimensions are: H 15.5cm X W 27cm. I like that it's made from a grained leather, as this is more durable and won't show scratches so easily. It terms on what it fits, it's my phone, a card holder (again, I bought a YSL to match), a lipstick, hand sanitizer and tissues. I could probably strategically fit some more, but as it's a magnetic closure, I don't want to tun the risk of damaging that. P.S. This is 50 euros cheaper on My Theresa than elsewhere!

Shocking Pink Monogram Quilted Wallet from the Saint Laurent

I couldn't resist this Shocking Pink Monogram Quilted Wallet from the Saint Laurent sale this year, as I had some birthday money and this happy colour called my name! I also like that I won't lose it in my handbag! It holds cards, coins and notes, which is perfect for a shopping day.

Givenchy Antigona Medium Review

Finally, my husband bought me one of my dream bags for my birthday - a Givenchy Antigona in the medium size. This bag has been on my vision board for around 3 years. I think it's a classic, timeless style as the logo is quite small, the smooth leather is glossy and I like that it has a shoulder strap handle but can also be carried in the crook of the arm. Although it is quite heavy! I've teamed it with the beautiful silk scarf, which I received with the OPI Muse of Milan collection, as I love the Autumnal shades. It's pretty big with dimensions of H 34, W 29, D 19cm. This is a pretty big bag, but I love the exposed zip and that it opens really wide to fit pretty much everything but the kitchen sink in it! It has certainly lived up to my expectations.

That's my entire collection at the moment, but I have my eye on another Gucci, another Saint Laurent, a Chloe and a Fendi, but I tend to wait for sales or ask for vouchers for Christmas/my birthday if people ask for suggestions, to take the pinch out of purchasing. I have some designer sunglasses but haven't ventured towards clothes, accessories or footwear.

Here, I have a 10% discount off your first Far Fetch order and 15% off your first Matches Fashion order. Some brand exclusions apply, but I always shop around for the best deals and you would be surprised at the savings you can make! Luisaviaroma often have amazing sales and discounts, so it's worth keeping an eye on there if you're ever going to invest in something. Another great site, which offers a 15% discount on your first purchase is 24S.com. Also, keep an eye on Brown Thomas, as their sale was epic this year! Also, I have a special treat for my readers in Northern Ireland - Northern Ireland customers 10% off their first purchase online at www.brownthomas.com/ni from Thursday 15th October until Monday 26th October. To redeem the offer, simply enter promo code “FIRST10” at the checkout. This doesn't just apply to bags, but to everything on site!! It's valid until October 29th. Happy Shopping!

Obviously, this post is in no way bragging! I'm just sharing one of my other loves. What's your number one love outside beauty? I'd love to hear! Also, if you are a bag lover and have a post/video, steer me in that direction please!
