The start of my hair journey with Currentbody LED Hair Growth Helmet (and a discount code for you!)

Currentbody LED discount code, Currentbody LED Hair Helmet review

I'm on a mission to rescue my hair and serendipitously, Currentbody got in touch to see if I would like to try their LED Hair Growth Helmet. Given how much I love their LED Face Mask, I jumped at the chance!  Today, I just want to give you a brief history of my hair issues, let you know how the hair helmet works, show you some before photos (so you know what I'm working with) and give you a 10% discount code should you wish to buy anything from the brand yourself! The code is LYMINCB and you enter it in the discount code box at checkout.

I have always taken care of my hair. The way I look at it is, I wear it every day so if I'm happy to spend money on clothes and makeup, then I should be happy to spend it on something that is a feature of my everyday life too. I used to have A LOT of hair! Some hairdressers used to groan when they'd see my hair because there was so much of it and quite frequently, it would take two people to dry my hair in the salon, due to both the length and the volume. A lot has changed! I became chronically ill in 2001 and lost a lot of hair in the first few months of illness - I would guess at around 40% of my hair. It then settled until the pandemic hit and I lost a lot of hair again when I got Covid. Due to being immunocompromised, I contracted Covid 15 times so my hair never really got the chance to fully recover. In the last 10/11 months, I have been undergoing treatment via a clinic in America for various health conditions and whilst my health is improving, I've noticed that my hair has become thinner. I have been told that this sometimes happens when the body is repairing and on recovery as other organs are prioritised by the body in terms of nutrients.  Another factor in my hair thinning is age and hormones. Stress can also cause hair loss and I believe that most people will be affected by at least one of these causes in their lifetime, or in my case, a few causes all at once. Whilst I can accept some hair loss/thinning with age, I want to improve the regrowth.

I have been quite alarmed at how thin my hair has become. It feels quite alien to me because all of the women in my family have good heads of hair. As you can see in the photos above, it is particularly thin around the front of my head.

I have high hopes for the Currentbody LED Hair Growth Helmet because it claims to increase hair growth by 128% in 12 weeks. This seems very specific but they offer a 4 month money back guarantee, so the claim is made with confidence and based on research. Before and after photos on the website are very impressive!

The helmet is available in two sizes and instructions on which part of your head to measure are on the website - it's basically the circumference of the head. The helmet comes with a stand, which seems quite cumbersome due to its size, rather than its weight, but it's actually very convenient and also necessary because the helmet itself is pretty lightweight and would be difficult to store without damaging otherwise. Plus, I find that having it 'on display' rather than in the box means I am much more likely to use daily. I have actually incorporated it into my evening routine - hair helmet, then LED mask after cleansing, the rest of my skincare routine and then I'm ready to relax for the evening. Stacking habits is effective so if you build this into a routine with something else that you already do, you will be much more likely to be consistent.

The helmet has two bluetooth speakers if you want to listen to music while doing it but I don't find it necessary and I can be mobile while using it and still watch TV/tidy up etc, so I personally don't use the speakers. That said, a 10 minute meditation would be a good idea when unwinding for the evening!

There are 120 LED bulbs in the helmet with a wavelength of 660nm. I love that the helmet and lights will target the entire head because whilst I am noticing most thinning around my hairline, hair regrowth all over the scalp will lead to more volume and hair looking more luscious overall. It only needs to be worn for 10 minutes per day (and can be combined with hair growth serums if desired) on clean and dry hair. I don't wash & dry my hair daily but as long as there isn't too much heavy product in the hair, it will work fine. The key to this (and pretty much everything in life!) is consistency. Currentbody claim that just 10 minutes a day will improve hair density, thickness and fullness. The helmet arrived the day before I went on holiday, so I have only been using it for 10 days since my return. In that time, I have only had to recharge once (after initial charge). I suspect that it will be a once weekly thing but will update you on that in future posts when I show progress/results. It contains a USB lead and I assume that most people have the plugs for these.

LED lights improve blood flow and keep follicles in the growth phase to encourage new growth and improve density and thickness. Results should start to be seen after 6-8 weeks but I will update after 3 and 6 months because in my experience, my body takes longer than most to respond and heal, given that its in recovery from Chronic Lyme Disease and M.E. I will include photos in those future posts, I will ensure that they are taken in the same areas because it drives me mad when I see people promoting hair growth products and they just brush their hair in a different way (if it's in a ponytail), which doesn't show exact like for like images!

Now for the all important question - the cost. I won't lie, it is pricey at 739.99 but my LYMINCB code will reduce it to 666. Like I said at the beginning, I believe in investing in my hair as I wear it daily and I had to add up the price of everything else I wear in a year, it would be a hell of a lot more than 666!

I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you suffered any hair loss in your life? Are you interested in hair growth products?
