It's been a hot minute since I did a monthly favourites post but I feel like going back to basics and sharing what I've been loving over the past month in terms of beauty products. Because of the change in season, I am using different products compared to over our beautiful summer months. Let's get into it!
Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud: An oldie but a goodie (this is the older packaging!). I recently rotated my fragrances, which I tend to do seasonally, and I saw that I had about a quarter bottle of this left and thought that it was perfect for the cooler months. I know that rose scents can be quite divisive and I understand why - they can smell very artificial or sometimes almost musty but this is nothing like that. This is a natural rose scent - as if you crushed fresh roses petals, and combined with oud, it creates a warm, sensual deep fragrance that always garners compliments and lasts so well on the skin. I've enjoyed this rediscovery!
The Smooth Company Smooth Stick Hair Taming Wand: There are similar products on the market but this is, without doubt, the best that I have tried. It's exactly as the name says - a taming wand for flyaway hairs that can be so annoying! It does a brilliant job of keeping wayward strands of hair in place for a neat look. It doesn't leave the hair feeling crispy/crunchy and it brushes out easily. I have found this great for the little bits of hair regrowth that I have that have a tendency to stick up! I will definitely be checking out some of their other products too!
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eyeshadow: I love these shadow sticks for a quick & easy, but still polished, eye look. They can be buffed out when initially applied as texture is creamy but they set and last well on my oily lids. I have several shades but am particularly loving the Vanilla and Brick matte shades at the moment. Brick is a beautiful burgundy shade that works so well with green eyes!
Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick: This really is an effortless bronzer, as the name suggests because I just swipe some on and then buff it into my skin for some warmth. It blends in seamlessly and looks so natural and the creamy texture is perfect for my dry skin.
Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Makeup Setting Spray: I started to use this over summer because I want to use up products I already have instead of just repurchasing or buying something new when I finish a product and it was a good decision! I had this sitting around since last December when I got it in an Advent calendar and I'm so glad that I finally started to use it. Not only is it alcohol free, it is actually hydrating because it contains hyaluronic acid, so it works really well for my dry skin. I use it to set my makeup and also to refresh my makeup if wearing it for more than 6/7 hours. I like the fine mist and find that it really does lock my makeup in but without the drying feeling and effect that some setting sprays have. It's a dual phase product so it's essential to shake well before spraying.
Kosas Air Brow Gel: This is actually a clear gel but it's changed colour after so much use! It is actually available in a tinted version too. This is brilliant for holding hairs in place without feeling crispy. It also fluffs the brows, which is ideal if you are from the generation that was tweezer-happy back in the day!
Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette: When this palette was first released, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it but was disappointed by the texture of the shadows. I used it a few times and then gave it to my niece because I wasn't using it. Fast forward to seeing so many people rave about it so I thought that maybe I had bought one from a bad batch so I bought a new one. I am so glad that I did because I now love this palette! The texture of the shadows is beautiful - very finely milled, which is easy to apply and blend. The pigmentation is great and the shadows last very well on the lids. The range of shades in this palette are all so wearable. I find matte shadows so easy to wear, they look sophisticated and are flattering on mature lids. It's a staple for me now!
I'd love to hear what you're currently loving!
