I went old school beauty shopping......

Old school beauty shopping, Do I still love these beauty products almost a decade later?
Anything marked with a * was bought with a gift card, which was kindly provided by Look Fantastic.

I needed a few replacement products, so I decided to go old school and buy products that I absolutely loved when I first started blogging, to see if I still loved them, if they still worked for my skin, and if I had found similar, but better, products since I last used them! Let's get into it....

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm*: Is there anybody who hasn't tried this cleansing balm? Back in the day, every blogger and YouTuber spoke about it constantly, so I obviously bought it to see if it really was worth the hype. It totally was/is. I actually couldn't tell you how many tubs of this cleansing balm I have used. That being said, I have used several other cleansing balms in my blogging years, but I would still put this in my top five, possibly top three. I just love how it melts my makeup so quickly and easily, plus it leaves my skin feeling comfortable and nourished. Will I repurchase again? Yes!

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask: Again, another product which everybody and their mother spoke about back in the day, but it seems to have to faded from the spotlight in recent years (either that, or it's not being sent out in PR parcels these days!). I was reminded of it recently, and I remembered how much I used to love this mask and how smooth it left my skin feeling. As the name suggests, it uses both glycolic and lactic acids, and it does tingle slightly on the skin, so maybe not suitable for those with very sensitive skin, but the results are worth the tingle. It is the perfect mask to use before an event, or if you've neglected your skin for a while and need instant results. Will I repurchase? I don't really need both this and the Oskia mask, but I love both, so I'll keep you posted!

Oskia Renaissance Mask: The first time I bought this (7 years ago!), I was hooked. It is similar to the previous mask, in the results that it gives (smooth, refined and soft skin, and both use fruit enzymes as chemical exfoliants. It's peach in colour, but when applied to the face, you massage it until it turns white, and then you leave it to do its thing. When I remove this mask, my skin is not only refined and smooth, but it is also hydrated, clear (with refined pores), and plump. This is why it is a constant repurchase for me. Will I repurchase again? Absolutely!

Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray: I bought this on a whim years ago, and instantly fell in love with it and went on to repurchase it several times, but for some reason, I forgot about it again until I came to write this post. I have fallen back in love with this spray, because it does what I expect facial sprays to do. I don't like face sprays that are just water - this actually adds moisture to my skin, and immediately makes it feel comfortable and nourished after using an acid toner. I also use it throughout the day if my skin is feeling particularly dry, or on hot & humid days (even better if it you put it in the fridge!) Will I repurchase again? Yes!

GLAMGLOW ThirstyMud: I bought this as soon as it was released in the U.S., before the brand had come to this side of the Atlantic! It just sounded like the ideal mask for my skin. I have bought it intermittently in the years since its release, and every time I use it, I remember why I love it. It's ideal for my thirsty skin, and I like to use it as an overnight mask, but if my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated, I will use it as a traditional mask, before applying makeup. It's packed with humectants, which really retain moisture in the skin, so it's ideal to use after exfoliation, and if you leave it on overnight, you will wake to plump, nourished and hydrated skin that glows. Will I repurchase again? Yes.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair*: My most repurchased skincare product, which I think I've been using for around 14 years. Usually, this is a constant in my stash, but I've been without it for a few months, due to having Lancôme Absolu The Serum* (review here), however, I felt the urge to repurchase ANR as it was a staple in my routine for so long. (Full review here). This is, without a doubt, a cult classic for a reason. I always feel that my skin is stronger, bouncier, more elasticized, bright and even in tone, and so much more, when I use this consistently. Will I repurchase again? Forever! (However, the Lancôme serum gives it a serious run for its money, as does Caudalie Premier Cru Serum).

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: I have been buying this for more years than I care to remember - 24, at a guess! I bought it before my skin probably even needed it, but it was the "it product" in magazines back in the day, so I had to have it! It's been a constant in my stash ever since. This is a cult product for a reason - it leaves skin glowing, plump and ready for foundation, and I guarantee you that any foundation you apply will look so much better if you use this as a primer. It makes skin look fresh, and helps to diminish the appearance of fine lines. It also helps banish any areas of dryness. Will I repurchase again? Forever!

YSL Faux Cils Mascara: Again, another product that I've been buying for over 20 years. I love very black, very dramatic and voluminous lashes, which this mascara gives me. What I don't like in a mascara is crispy lashes, smudging, and for it to be hard to remove - you guessed it, this mascara doesn't cause any of those issues! I was 100% loyal to this mascara for years, but since I started blogging, I have tried others, some of which I have loved, but none that lived up to this completely. Will I repurchase again? Forever!

I was gutted to find that Clarins Instant Concealer seems to have been discontinued! I absolutely LOVED that concealer - it was everything I wanted a concealer to be. It gave good coverage, never went cakey, worked both under the eyes and on the face, was long-lasting, and didn't crease under my eyes. If this was still available, I'd repurchase in a heartbeat!

I guess what this experiment tells me is that before I even started blogging, I knew what I loved, and had products that worked really well for me. The ones that I tried after I started blogging were well chosen, and still work (with a few duds along the way, that I obviously didn't repurchase!). I'm happy with the results, as it shows me that I know my skin well and I know what works for me, plus I was making good choices long before anything was ever sent to me, and I'm happy about that.

If you're a blogger, I'd love to hear if you still use and love products that were in your stash years ago? If you're a consumer, rather than a buyer, I'd love to hear if your shopping habits have changed, due to the influence of blogs, or do you stick to what you know and love?
