What I loved in June....

Half A World Away Review, Maverick Review, What I loved in June 2022 review, Airport Chaos June 2022

Can you believe that we are half way through the year? I swear that since Covid, the weeks and months just fly by and everything is a blur. I think it's because while most people think that life is back to "normal" and the governments would like us to believe that too, the reality is that the numbers are rising again, and having had Covid five times, I don't feel particularly safe and am still on tenterhooks, to an extent, even though I've tried to do some normal things. Because I now have Long Covid, on top of my other illnesses, I still feel in that Covid blur and need to find a way to let it go, because the reality is that the months and years are flying by! After that long rambling intro, I'm here to talk about what I loved in June!

Summer fragrance picks......

Summer fragrance picks 2022
Some of these fragrances were gifted or bought with a voucher, without obligation (marked with a *).

My regular readers will know that I am a fragrance addict & wear it daily - even when I lost my sense of smell, or if I'm having a duvet or pyjama day. Wearing a beautiful fragrance really lifts my spirits and I like to know that I smell good. My love of perfume started when I was very young and I used to gather flowers from the garden & try to create my own scents! My mother is also a fragrance addict, so I can say that it's in the genes! Today, I want to share my top summer picks (although I will undoubtedly wear others too), which may serve as some inspiration if you are looking for a new summer perfume...

Dehydrated skin? You need some Dermalogica in your life....

Dermalogica Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist Review, Dermalogica cellular hydration serum review
These products were kindly gifted to me, without obligation, as part of their *skinfluencer programme.

Next year will be 20 years since I first began using Dermalogica products! If that isn't testament to how much I love the brand, I really don't know what is! As I have mentioned before, it's the only brand that I used for 6 months prior to our wedding and also had regular facials (I love their face mapping!). I can honestly say, hand on heart, that their releases are getting better and better all of the time, and I have rarely, if ever, been disappointed with a purchase. I am fortunate enough to be part of their #skinfluencer programme, which means that I am kindly sent some of their new releases, but I also purchase products with my own money (and my husband now uses some too!). So, today I'm going to discuss two new releases, which are aimed at hydrating and replenishing the skin: Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist and Circular Hydration Serum.

Battle of the cream bronzers....

Battle of the cream bronzers

Because I have dry skin, I love cream cheek products. My favourite ever cream bronzer was Les Sahariennes, which was discontinued by YSL a few years ago (why do brands do this?!). It was the most beautiful product - a perfect texture for blending and giving a natural, sun-kissed look to the skin, even when worn without foundation. Thankfully, since then a lot of brands have seen the bright side and are releasing cream bronzers. They aren't just for those with dry skin, as you could set them with a little powder bronzer on top, or just some setting spray. They are also my preferred option for a very natural look, particularly in summer when I want to look sun-kissed but without actually tanning my face! I used to have quite a few, but have narrowed it down to four cream bronzers that I would highly recommend to anybody who wants to try one, but is unsure where to start...

Some current beauty loves
Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

I've found myself using some products on constant rotation in recent weeks, ones that I reach for pretty much daily, without even thinking about it. They're constants for a reason - my skin loves them, they are easy to apply and require very little effort to make. me look put together. Rather than individual review posts, I thought I'd put them all together in one and tell you why I love them so much.

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Day VS Night Fragrances

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Day VS Night Fragrances, Bronze Goddess Discount Code
These fragrances were partly paid for using a gift voucher from Look Fantastic.

Sorry for the longer than expected break from the blog. If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that my flight home from holiday was delayed by 2 days, which really threw me out last week! All of the plans I had for the week were up in the air, I needed to get a new nebuliser as mine broke while on holiday, and despite having a really restful week, those two days of going to and from the airport, not knowing what was happening, just left me exhausted, so I decided to take some time to catch up on everything (sleep/laundry/seeing family/catching up on Love Island etc), before coming back to the blog. I have lots of posts planned and am looking forward to hearing how you all are, so today's the day that I finally get back into it!

For me, summer hasn't arrived unless I have a bottle of Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess! It could be raining most days (and generally is in Ireland), but as soon as I smell Bronze Goddess, I'm instantly transported to a sunny beach, feeling relaxed and happy, which is why I even bought it during the lockdowns - I could at least pretend to be somewhere more exotic than the garden, even if I wasn't! Each year, there are some variations or additions to the original fragrance, and this year it's Bronze Goddess Nuit Eau De Parfum, which intrigued me, as not only is the bottle beautiful, but it includes some warmer notes. I wanted to compare it to the original and give you my opinion as to whether you actually need both in your life.....

What I loved in May.....

This photo is taken from The Irish Times, because I forgot to take any photos before the blossom went over, due to the crazy weather we've had (four seasons in one day at times).

This month has absolutely flown by, and I can't believe that in a few days, we will be in the sixth month of the year! Crazy!  I feel like the last two years have been a blur, and even though all restrictions have been lifted for quite a while, I still feel in that blur! Maybe getting away will make me realise that 2020 was two years ago! Anyway, enough rambling and on to what I loved this month....

My holiday makeup & fragrance picks.....

My holiday makeup & fragrance picks

I am so excited (and fortunate) to be going on my first sun holiday since 2019, on Sunday. My husband & I are so looking forward to a week of doing as little as possible - read, sleep, eat, beach walks - that's about the extent of it, so although I don't need a lot of makeup (I won't be wearing any during the day), I'll still take some as I do like to dress up a bit (some evenings!) on holiday. So, here are my holiday makeup and fragrance picks....

Refillable products from some of my favourite brands....

Refillable products from some of my favourite beauty brands
Anything gifted to me will be marked with a * and is done without any obligation.

There's no doubt that we are all aware of climate change, and I believe that the majority of us are veering towards products and brands that are eco-friendly, with sustainability being more than a buzz word or a trend..... even Love Island will be ditching fast fashion this year! When it comes to beauty, I know that being a blogger may appear to produce a lot of waste, or that I'm encouraging you to constantly buy new products. Believe me when I say that none of my products go to waste - I post my empties on Instagram regularly, and if a product doesn't work for me, it will be passed on to somebody who I know will enjoy it. I also declutter my makeup every 6 months (sometimes more frequently) and will give products that I just don't reach for, to teenagers within my extended family members and friends. You may still think that blogging is all about consumerism, but I don't consider myself to be an 'influencer' - I just give you an unbiased opinion on a product, and if you have a similar skin type to me, have similar needs in terms of skin and haircare, you might buy the product, and let's face it, some things are necessities!  With all of that in mind, today I want to share products from my favourite beauty brands, which are already sustainable, or are moving in that direction. I personally love refillable products, as it cuts down on unnecessary waste. Please tell me of other brands or products that you know are refillable, but I haven't mentioned, as I'm always willing to learn.

Revolution x Sali Hughes Skincare Review

Revolution x Sali Hughes Skincare Review for Dry Skin
These products were kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

Regular readers will know that I'm a bit (lot) of a skincare snob, so I hadn't tried any Revolution skincare products until I received the fabulous P.R. package of Sali Hughes' collaboration with them. I was asked if I would like to try the products and I love when this happens, as it means there is no waste and it's a bugbear of mine to see bloggers/influencers etc receiving huge PR bundles, which they never actually show again. I had read some good reviews on some skincare products from the brand, but with Sali involved, I knew that these are products I would have spent my own money on anyway. They're not just products that she put her name on, but she did her research, tested formulas, and came up with a simple 4 step routine, which is refreshing in the world of single ingredient products, which require you to have a science degree to figure out which might suit your skin. With people leading increasingly busier lives, a 4 step in 4 minutes routine will appeal to many. The range is vegan, cruelty-free, silicone-free, and made with recycled packaging. The range is also affordable, with all products priced at less than £15. So, how have I found the products to work on my dry skin? Read on to find out...

Armani Prive Indigo Tanzanite Eau De Parfum - the ultimate in sensual decadence

Armani Prive Indigo Tanzanite Eau De Parfum review
This was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

Most of you will know that I am a fragrance addict, often showing my Fragrance of the Day on Instagram, so I love smelling new scents. I've never owned an Armani Prive fragrance before, but from the first spritz of Indigo Tanzanite, I fell in love in an instant, so I know that this won't be my last! I have a few Armani fragrances, but the Prive range is a step above, with four collections: Les Eaux, La Collection, Les Terres Précieuses and Les Mille et Une Nuits. These lines use only the highest quality ingredients, to create unique scents. The Indigo Tanzanite EDP is part of the Les Terres Précieuses line, each of which is inspired by a different culture, which has inspired Giorgio Armani. This particular fragrance is inspired by Africa, with its bright colours (the other in the line is Magenta Tanzanite).

Holiday preppin'

Sun holiday prep products

We're going on our first sun holiday since 2019 in a fortnight (I probably won't believe it's real until we get there!), and I couldn't be more excited (with a touch of nerves too, given that I haven't been on a flight or in crowded areas since Covid started - well, apart from hospital, but that was a safe zone!). I feel like I'd gotten a little out of practice with holiday prep, so I thought I'd share the main things I'm doing with you today. I tend to DIY a lot of things, as going to a salon for lots of pre-holiday treatments can be expensive and time-consuming, plus I spend enough on products, so I should us them, right?

Budget/affordable/bougie: Essences

Budget/affordable/bougie: Essences

Essences are one of those products that a lot of people think are gimmicks - I know that I did..... until I tried one. Now, that's not to say that it's a completely necessary step in your routine, but if you have dehydrated skin, I'm willing to bet that you'll notice an improvement after a few weeks of use. I'm back with three products, for three budgets. I will adit that it was difficult to find an essence that fits into what I would usually class as the "budget" category, so if you know of a good one, please do let me know!

What I loved in April.....

April loves 2022

I love April, because it's my husband's birthday, there is so much blossom and a real sense of hope and change in the air (if only that could extend to the war in Ukraine. I cannot believe that it's still going, without any real action being taken against Putin). I love seeing tulips everywhere, as well as all of the Spring flowers! The sun has been shining, although we only had maybe 2 days of actual heat where I live - other days, it was sunny but absolutely freezing and the winter coat came back out! I'm looking forward to some warmer days, and of course, our holiday next month! Anyway, enough about the weather, let's get into what I loved in April....

Shadow sticks for a quick and easy eye look....

Shadow sticks for a quick and easy eye look

I don't know if I'm just getting lazier with my makeup, have less energy, or just want to spend less time doing it, but at the moment I'm reaching for products that I know will help to make me look as though I've made an effort, even if I haven't! The products that fit the bill for my eyes are shadow sticks, and I have four brands that I want to share with you today. All will make my eyes look like I've made an effort, but in reality, take around a minute to complete. Once they are set, they're budge-proof - even on my oily lids!

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream Review

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Omega Rich Cloud Cream Review
This was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

When I first started blogging (and even before then), one of the most talked about products was Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. It was released in 2010 and is still one of the brand's best-selling products all these years later. It's popularity is due to the fact that it has been proven to improve the appearance of tired skim, particularly of those who have sleep problems of any sort (most people, I'm guessing?). 12 years later, we have a much longed for addition to the range in the form of the new Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream.

We're starting today with one of my favourite products: Acid Exfoliators.

Are hydrafacials worth the hype/money?

Hydrafacial review at South William Street Clinic, Are Hydrafacials worth the money/hype?

It's not very often that I go out for facials/treatments, but hydrafacials have been on my radar for a few years, so I was delighted when I received a gift voucher for one for my birthday (during the first lockdown!). Restrictions/lockdowns/illness delayed me actually having the treatment until earlier this month, so I wanted to give you the lowdown in case you've been considering having one done. They're expensive, so I was definitely curious as to whether I would see enough of a difference in my skin to justify the price.

My most used makeup items at the moment

Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted, without obligation.

At the moment, I'm using a mix of new products, and others that I want to finish. I'm also in that transitional makeup phase, where I tend to go brighter with my lip picks (sometimes - I'm a nude girl at heart!), and lighter with my base. However, in the past 2/3 weeks, we've had some very sunny days, a storm, snow, sleet and hailstones, so I can't really call this a Spring makeup edit, as the weather is so changeable! Anyway, less weather talk and more makeup!

AHC Youth Focus Range Review

AHC Youth Focus Range Review

When I was first introduced to AHC (a K-Beauty brand), I fell completely head over heels for it, see posts here and here. Naturally, I was thrilled to receive their new Youth Focus range, which uses Pro Retinal 11x, meaning that it has an 11 times faster conversion rate than retinol. Jasmine has a fantastic post on the differences between retinoids here, if you're confused by it all (and don't worry, you won't be the only one who is!). So, let me talk you through this new range....

Regular readers will know that L'Occitane is one of my favourite brands, not just in terms of skincare and fragrance, but also body care. products They can do no wrong in my eyes. I particularly love their body moisturisers (they have lotions, oils and creams available), as I have to moisturise my body daily because my skin is so dry, so I need products that will nourish and are long-lasting. Today, I want to talk you through the differences between L'Occitane Shea Body Creams to help you decide which one would suit you best.

What I loved in March

Usually, when I'm writing these posts, I'll have notes that I'll have written throughout the month, but this hasn't been an easy month. Watching the news every day has weighed very heavily on me (as I'm sure it has with all of you too), watching what is happening in Ukraine, seeing the maternity and children's hospital targeted is beyond evil. Seeing bodies of people shot during what was supposed to be a safe passage - how low can Putin sink? Like all of you I'm sure, I feel so helpless even though I've made several donations and sent a mountain of boxes to the Polish border. I wish we could offer rooms to some refugees, but with my very poor health, I can't (I actually got Covid AGAIN this month!). But, what has lifted my spirits is seeing the good in humanity - so much money raised, supplies sent, homes opened and more. Plus, I cannot explain my admiration for the people of Ukraine enough. They are fantastic, despite the circumstances, and display all of the qualities that people need to get through tough times. In my niece's class, there is a Ukranian girl, and everyone has been so kind and welcoming to her, which really warms my heart. There was an Irish university student trying to find a safe passage home, but it was proving very difficult, and two men from Scotland drove over to rescue her and her small group of fellow students. How amazing is that? Good will always triumph in the end - we have to believe that.  Here are the few good things that I have loved in March, because when life is dark, we always have to look for the light....

Natasha Denona Glam Face & Eye Palette: Light Review & Swatches

Natasha Denona Glam Face & Eye Palette: Light Review & Swatches, Is the Natasha Denona Glam Face & Eye Palette worth the hype?

I have to say that I didn't really plan on buying this palette, as I have a few all in one face palettes, plus I find that Natasha Denona cheek products can be a bit hit & miss, however it was on sale, and from the swatches I saw online, I thought that I'd use all of them, plus it's perfect to take on nights away or holidays, as both eyes and cheeks are covered. But, is the Natasha Denona Glam Face & Eye Palette a hit or a miss?

It's a few years since I bought a foundation from Nars. Biossance Squalane and Amino Aloe Gentle Cleanser Review

Biossance Squalane and Amino Aloe Gentle Cleanser Review

Biossance is a brand that I have only tried a small number of products from, but have loved everything I've tried, so when I saw that they had released their new Squalane and Amino Aloe Gentle Cleanser, I couldn't resist buying it (even though I have a lot of cleansers to get though!). I thought that it might be perfect as we change seasons. I love that their products contain squalane, as it is super hydrating, and really suits my dry skin. It also saves 2 million sharks every year, because it's sugar-cane derived, rather than coming from the livers of sharks. I'm not particularly into the whole "clean" beauty movement (or it's more a case of brands saying that their products are clean, as opposed to other 'dirty' brands - I think it's a little unnecessary, but each to their own), however this is definitely better for the planet. So, how has the cleanser been working for me?

Kérastase Chroma Absolu Soin Acid Chroma Gloss VS L'Oreal Elvive Wonder Water Colour Protect

Kérastase Chroma Absolu Soin Acid Chroma Gloss VS L'Oreal Elvive Wonder Water Colour Protect
L'Oreal Elvive Wonder Water Colour Protect was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

I first discovered Kérastase K-Water in 2020, and was instantly hooked. I had never used a product like it before (review here), and loved how I could get a mirror-like shine on my hair from a product that worked quickly. That being said, it was hard to get hold of, and quite expensive, so I was delighted when L'Oreal Elvive brought out their own version (review here). It wasn't an absolute dupe, but for the price difference, it was definitely a product worth using. Fast forward to this year, and Kérastase have a new version: Chroma Absolu Soin Acid Chroma Gloss, and so do L'Oreal Elvive: Wonder Water Colour Protect*. I've been putting both to the test, to see if they live up to their claims, and if one justifies being more than triple the price of the other.....

Top 10 Gifts for Mother's Day

Top 10 Gifts for Mother's Day 2022

The countdown is on - Mother's Day is next Sunday here in Ireland and the UK! So, with that in mind, I've collated my Top 10 gifts for all of the mothers, mothers in-law, step-mothers, mother figures, wives, girlfriends...... basically anybody who plays a maternal role, either in your life, or maybe that's you, in which case, you can forward this post to any of your significant others! I think the best gift anyone could give this year, is a donation to any of the charities helping in Ukraine - Unicef, The Red Cross, and many more. I think that most of us have done that already, so if you'd like to give a physical gift, rather than my traditional gift guides, I've chosen the Top 10 gifts, and you still have time to order! NEW IN: Filorga Skincare

Filorga Creme Universelle review, Filorga The Radiance Booster Fluid Review
These products were kindly sent to me, without obligation.

Filorga is a brand that I feel deserves a lot more hype. I have yet to try any product from the brand that I haven't absolutely loved (moisturisers, an essence, and sheet masks are some that I have used every last drop of).  It's a French brand, created by an aesthetic doctor, who wanted to make products that would make a noticeable difference to skin within 7 days. I can tell you that everything I have tried makes my skin look and feel better instantly, but obviously it's with consistent use that best results will be seen. Today, I want to share my thoughts on two of the brand's latest releases: Crème Universelle and Skin-Unify Radiance Illuminating Perfecting Fluid.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara is one of my all time favourite mascaras, so I was naturally very excited to try their latest release, which is called Hello Lashes + Lash-Loving Volumizing Mascara (they obviously like lengthy names!). I am extremely fussy when it comes to mascaras - I like them to be very black, non-flaky, not to smudge, not to turn my lashes crispy, but also to last well on my oily lid/watery eye combo! Not asking for much then!

Recent beauty purchases....

I really haven't bought many beauty products this year (well, compared to other years!), although I'm sure you're looking at the photo above and saying "yeah, sure!", but most of these products are necessary replacements. I am still working my way through products from my Advent Calendar, plus I'm really trying to be more focused and mindful with my purchases this year, as I have basically more beauty products than I could ever need! That said, I've bought a few things. The only beauty product that I bought in January is Charlotte Tilbury's Beautiful Skin Foundation, which I reviewed here. Although there have been A LOT of offers this first quarter, I have resisted a lot of them, and just bought the following products!

Let's get Spring ready!

Let's get Spring ready!, Spring body preparation, get skin ready for Spring,

Ok, I know you probably think that I'm getting ahead of myself here, given that we've had around 5/6 storms already this year, and it isn't unknown to have snow in March, I'm choosing to think positively and think back to Spring 2020, when Covid arrived, and a few weeks later, we had the most glorious weather! I'm hoping that we might just get a repeat of that, so instead of waiting for good weather to arrive, I like to prep my body and skin in advance, so that it's looking good when it comes out of hibernation, and the layers come off! Today, I'm going to share the products that I'm using, which might inspire you to peel off the layers for a pamper! Five fragrances that are perfect for Spring!
Anything that was kindly gifted to me, was done without obligation to post, and will be marked with a *

As I have said any times before, Spring is my favourite season. I'm seeing buds appearing, as well as some beautiful snowdrops and narcissi - this is something that always gives me hope and God knows, the world needs hope right now. Today, I thought I'd share my top five fragrances for Spring this year. My sense of smell is intermittent right now (hoping it will come back fully very soon!), but I know these fragrances like the back of my hand and can describe them easily. I'd love to hear your favourite Spring fragrance (if you rotate them each season)?

Over the past few months, I have been sent some amazing products from a range of brands, which I have been gradually introducing into my routine, and I want to share my thoughts with you today. They won't be full reviews, as some I've been using for longer than others (with a break in between with some), so some will be mini reviews, and others will be my overall thoughts. What I loved in February

The end of another month, and the season of hope is upon us! My January was a bit of a washout - I wasn't ready for it, and was still in Christmas mode until half way through, so I decided to press re-set on the year on February 1st, only to be greeted by Covid...... again! It meant plenty of rest and meds, watching feel good films and shows, plus a few great beauty products thrown in for good measure, which I'm going to share with you today. It would be very remiss of me to continue posting about beauty/tv/life in general, without mentioning what is happening in Ukraine. My husband and I talk about it daily, saying how blessed we are that we live a life where we have freedom to choose so much - we feel guilty that we even discuss what we might eat for dinner, when there are people losing their lives on a daily basis, for no valid reason. We've seen the Russian Ambassador to Ireland on tv trying to justify the actions of his country, but there is no justification and he just tells lie after lie, so much so, the news anchor just cut him off when he'd heard enough and realised that interviewing him served no purpose. What the people in Ukraine are going through barely leaves my mind for a moment, and I hope that the response is very strong and united, despite Putin's threats. I hope that Europe will take Ukranian refugees, yet they should not have to leave their homes. I cannot imagine the distress of those waiting for their loved ones to arrive back, for those who have used somebody in the country to have their surrogate baby, and of those living there every day. My heart is with each and every one of them, and I wish there was a way to help (apart from donating to charities, which I have done). I also want to add that I admire the protestors on the streets of Russia, who are taking huge risks to show their disgust and abhorrence for what their leader is doing. I hope that people will separate the actions of Putin from Russian people, in general - we don't need any further hate in this world.

L'Occitane Herbae Clary Sage and new additions to the Shea range for Spring!

L'Occitane Herbae Clary Sage review, New additions to the Shea range for Spring 2022
These products were kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

You all know what a huge fan of L'Occitane I am, so I get excited whenever they release a new product - seriously, it could be an anti-fungal cream and I'd be excited! Don't worry, I'm not about to talk about any products like that, instead, it's all about the latest additions to their beloved shea range, and their latest fragrance release - Herbae Clary Sage. Any of these products would make fabulous Mother's Day gifts (it will creep up on us next month!)

Latest additions to the Pixi Rose Range....

Latest additions to the Pixi Rose Range 2022
These products were kindly sent to me, without obligation.

Out of all of the Pixi skincare ranges, I think that the rose infused one is my favourite (review here), so I was absolutely delighted to receive a package with some new products a few weeks ago! There are four products; some skincare, some makeup, but they could be a hybrid of both. I want to talk you through them today and explain why some are hits and some are misses for me.

FOREO UFO 2 - a game changer?

FOREO UFO 2 - a game changer

I've been intrigued by the FOREO UFO since I first saw it, and then began to read reviews on it, which made me want to try it even more. I was very fortunate to be offered the latest one (UFO 2) in recent months, and after describing my skin, I was also kindly sent some masks (and have since bought a different box too). Calling it a game changer may sound dramatic, but if you read on, you'll see why I believe that there are several reasons why it is.

Brand Focus: The Inkey List

Brand Focus: The Inkey List
All of these products were kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

This post has been a long time in the making, as I received the products last November, and as with all skincare (although there are some haircare products too), I like to thoroughly test everything before sharing my opinion. For reference, I have dry skin and a chronic illness, which makes it tricky to achieve everyday fresh-looking skin. I need my products to work hard, and I also work on my skin from within. My hair is also very dry, it's fine too, but I have a lot of it.

Sickbed essentials

Sickbed essentials

At this stage, I think it's easier to name those who haven't had Covid, than those who have! That said, I'm the only one in my family to have caught it ( a number of times!). This post isn't about supplements (I'm not a doctor, although I do recommend taking probiotics daily), or medication of any kind. Today, I'm talking you through the products that I find help me to feel a little better and relax more, so that I have the best chance of recuperation. You don't need to spend a fortune on products, just use what you have, and when energy is low (as it inevitably is when fighting a virus or any type of infection or illness), just some basic things can lift your spirits.

Barely there base products....

Barely there base products
The Urban Decay product was kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I don't want to go completely bare faced, but I also don't want to do a full face of makeup. I basically just want to look like a healthier version of myself! These are the days when I will reach for a barely there base product, concealer, a lip balm, and a cream blush. Brows and lashes depend on if they're tinted & with extensions, but if not, quick and minimal products will also be used. For reference, I have dry skin.

First Aid Beauty Face & Body skincare review

First Aid Beauty Face & Body skincare review
These products were kindly gifted to me, without obligation.

Late last summer, I was kindly sent some First Aid Beauty products to try, and I'm only getting around to sharing my thoughts now, as I wanted to give everything a thorough test first, plus I had a lot of skincare products to try at the time. First Aid Beauty is a solution-based brand - each product has a purpose. They need to work hard, produce results, without irritation - hence the name First Aid! There are a vast range of products to try, but after filling out a form, my 'prescription' for my skin, was kindly sent to me.

My top 21 purchases of 2021

My top 21 purchases of 2021

I know that there's a perception that bloggers never purchase any products themselves, but this simply isn't true. I would estimate that 75-80% of the products I feature on the blog are those that I have bought myself. So, whilst I have already shared some of my favourite products of 2021 with you here, here and here, today I'm focusing solely on products that I bought myself, and I thought I'd round it off to a nice 21 for the year that was in it! If I have previously blogged about the items, I'll leave links to the reviews.

What I loved in January

January hasn't been a great month for me, due to ill-health, so I'm pretending that tomorrow (February 1st) is the start of the new year! I was still in Christmas mode until the middle of January anyway, as it's my Dad's birthday then, so it all just keeps blurring, with every family visit being "one last Christmas hurrah" - any excuse really! I spent most of the month on heavy meds and during the second half, more were added in, which made me feel rotten - hence the lack of posting! That said, I'm very much hoping that next month will be better, as I have so much that I want to talk to you about! In the meantime, here's what I've been loving in January....

Is the new Charlotte Tilbury foundation really worth the hype?

Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation Review

I've had mixed experiences with Charlotte Tilbury foundations - I love Light Wonder, but the other two really do nothing for my skin (actually, I think that Magic Foundation has been discontinued now), so I was kind of in two minds about whether or not to buy her new Beautiful Skin Foundation but the description lured me in. So, is it worth the hype?

2021 Hall Of Fame: Bath, Body & Fragrance

2021 Hall Of Fame: Bath, Body & Fragrance

This is the last of my trilogy of hall of fame posts and I was going to include haircare, but regular readers will know all about my favourites already - Olaplex, Kiehl's, Color Wow and Kérastase are my go-to brands to keep my hair in good condition. I've posted about them several times (here and here, for example), so I'm sticking to bath, body and fragrance today. I don't usually include fragrance, but I wear it daily (even if I'm having a duvet day!), so I thought I should include my favourites, and would love to hear yours.....

2021 Hall of Fame: Skincare

2021 Hall of Fame: Skincare

This was always going to be the trickiest category for me, as I really am a skincare junkie, and while I have seen some people streamline their routines, that's just not me (and probably never will be!).  It might seem like I have a lot of products here (and I do!), however, I could easily have double the amount to be honest! Let's get started....

2021 Hall of Fame: Makeup

2021 Hall of Fame: Makeup

Hello! Happy New Year! I really didn't plan on taking such a long break, but I didn't have a set date in mind for my return - I just wanted to do it when I felt ready. I hope you all had a fabulous festive season? We had a great balance of seeing family, but also plenty of time relaxing and in our own little bubble - it was exactly what we needed! I usually post yearly favourites before Christmas, but I felt so burnt out that I would have been forcing it, so I have a few posts now that I've been able to give it more thought. I'm starting with makeup, then on Saturday, I'll be talking skincare favourites, and finally on Monday, it will be bath, body and fragrances. Then, regular content will resume, although there will be some changes this year. There were some posts last year that I wasn't 100% happy with (not many, as I respect my readers too much to just put any old rubbish out or just re-write a press release), and I had a good think over the Christmas break and whilst I like having a schedule, I don't want any pressure on myself and won't put posts out for the sake of sticking to a schedule. I'd also like to include more topics, rather than just sticking to beauty, so hopefully that will happen too. My main priority this year is my health, so there will be no pressure on me (applied only by myself!) - if I need to take breaks, I will. My focus is on quality over quantity, when it comes to posts.

When it comes to doing favourites posts, it's very difficult not to include 50+ products, so I have been very strict with myself and it really is just the crème de la crème of products that I'm featuring, so let's get started! As always, if a product was sent to me, it will be marked with a *.
