An introduction to Olivanna Skincare

An introduction to Olivanna Skincare
These products were kindly sent to me, without obligation.

This post was supposed to be live more than a month ago, so please forgive my tardiness! Olivanna skincare is a brand that I hadn't actually heard of until they approached me (one of my favourite things about blogging is discovering new brands) and I loved the sound of the products, so I was delighted to be kindly sent four to try and I'm finally ready to share my thoughts today (fortunately, I write notes during the testing process because like I said, this post should have been live quite a while ago!).

Soothing Seed Oils Cleansing Balm: If you are very sensitive to scented products, you may not like this however, I have reactive skin and didn't have any issues as the scent came from essential oils ( rosemary, bergamot, rose geranium and eucalyptus) rather than anything synthetic. I actually find the scent to be spa-like and reviving. The balm itself has a stiff texture initially but then melts into an oil, which is easy to massage into the skin and it dissolves all traces of makeup, spf, general grime etc and when removed with a warm cloth, the skin is left feeling thoroughly cleansed, soft and comfortable. Because of all of the seed oils it contains, which are anti-inflammatory, I found that my skin wasn't at all red, despite the inclusion of essential oils. It's a truly beautiful cleansing balm and will become a cult product if more people try it and spread the word!

Bakuchiol Miracle Night SerumAt this stage, most skincare lovers have heard of Bakuchiol, which is known as nature's Vitamin A/Retinol.  This serum is a great way to dip your toe into retinols if you're wary of going straight into a cream. It helps to boost the turnover of our skin cells, thereby helping skin to look more luminous but also reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid and Rosehip Oil. which help to nourish and plump the skin, giving it an overall healthier and younger look.  A few drops are applied at night to cleansed skin, followed a few minutes later by the Intense Night Repair Cream. It's important that you wear SPF when using any Vitamin A products (but this should be part of your routine anyway), because they make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Because I have been using retinol products for a number of years, I can't say that this made a huge difference to my skin but I do think it would be a great starter product.

Intense Repair Night Cream: I have to say that I love a good night product because that is when our skin is regenerating and replenishing. This moisturiser has a light texture, yet it feels intensely nourishing on the skin, without being greasy. It's packed with ceramides, glycerin and squalane to ensure that the skin is plump. It also contains seed oil and the combination of all of these ingredients is nourished and elasticized skin that looks healthy and fresh. A little goes a long way with it.

Detox Oceanic Marine Mask: I don't often using clarifying or mattifying masks as my skin doesn't really need them, but obviously for the purposes of review, I used this one, and being completely honest, it was quite drying on my skin and left it a little red. I did, however, ask my friend who has oily/combination skin to try it and she loved how it really clarified her skin and tightened the appearance of her pores, so I told her to keep the mask as her skin will benefit from it more than mine ever would,

Overall, these products made me want to try more from the brand. I love that it focuses on natural ingredients, with sustainability in mind, plus it uses homegrown ingredients too. If you are looking for a new brand to try, I'd recommend this one as they have a wide range of products, including SPF, and the cleansing balm gives the spa-like feel so you can have a really nice pamper evening, which is good for the soul!

Have you heard of Olivanna skincare before? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
