Everyday essentials

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, Nurse Jamie UpLift Facial Massaging Beauty Roller, Pixi Rose Caviar Essence, Phyto Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Hair Spray, Emile Cordon lip balms, Dr Paw Paw Original balm, L'Occitane Intensive Foot Balm, CND Weekly Top Coat, Everyday Essentials, Antipodes Joyful hand & body cream

It occurred to me recently that I post about skincare and makeup, which I rotate quite frequently, but the products that I reach for day in, day out are overlooked. I'm talking about the staple products that I can't be without and use consistently, almost without realising but if I were to stop, I'd see a difference pretty quickly.

Hand cream: I always have several hand creams on the go and all over the house/in my hand bag etc. I have dry skin and hate the tight/uncomfortable feeling that accompanies it so I am forever moisturising my hands. My current go-to is Antipodes Joyful hand & body cream, which I reviewed here. It's nourishing without being greasy and it smells utterly amazing - floral and fruity but not overly sweet.

CND Vinylux Long Wear Top Coat: I paint my nails once a week and always, always use this top coat because it keeps them chip free until I want to change my polish. It also speeds up drying time and adds a glossy finish.

Cuticle oil: I have an evening routine that I do almost without thinking, every evening when my husband & I are watching an episode of our latest series and one the rituals is applying cuticle oil and massaging it in. I particularly love this L'Occitane one because it's rose scented (limited edition as far as I'm aware) and the tube makes it easy to apply a dot to each nail. It's less messy than some other packaging types and means there is less waste too.

Foot Cream: I'm now on my second tube of this L'Occitane Intensive Foot Balm and I'm obsessed! I apply this daily and it banishes all dry skin to leave my feet smooth and soft. I always put socks on afterwards to create a cocoon and even throughout the winter months, my skin has been really soft. A little goes a long way with this foot cream.

Lip balms: I have lip balms everywhere - handbag, kitchen, desk, bathroom cabinet, bedside table, car - basically everywhere! My current handbag balm is Dr Paw Paw Original balm because I prefer a tube balm for my bag. This product is brilliant because it can be used on cuticles, lips and any patches of dry skin. My Dad had facial burns a few years ago when something exploded pretty much in his face and this was the only product that soothed his skin. I was kindly sent three Emile Cordon lip balms and these are also multipurpose products but they are so beautiful (and pricey) that I don't want to waste them on my cuticles! Housed in stunning packaging, they are definitely the most luxurious lip balms in my collection and each one comes with a small spatula, which is much more hygienic than dipping your finger in, but this is the reason that I don't carry these lip balms in my bag as I'd need to keep them in the box to carry the spatula too. I have Mandarin Garden, which smells as delicious as you'd imagine - I'm a sucker for anything citrusy, Moroccan Mint, which I love because it smells refreshing but doesn't tingle in the way that some minty products do, and Madison Queen, which is actually a lip and cheek tint in addition to being a balm. I personally only wear it on the lips and like that it can be built from a sheer wash of colour to a strong lip. All of these balms nourish the lips, leaving them soft but they aren't sticky or heavy-feeling on the lips. They all contain Vitamin E, Almond Oil and Kukui Nut Oil, which deliver a powerful dose of moisture that lasts for several hours after application.

Phyto Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Hair Spray: This product can be used daily as it can be used on both damp and dry hair but I don't use heated tools on my hair daily so I just use it twice weekly, after I wash my hair. I  use a few sprays of this all over to protect against the damage that heat can cause but also to detangle my hair. It contains hyaluronic acid, to attract and lock in moisture, botanical keratin, to repair the hair, cermaides to smooth the hair and Yun Zhi Extract, which protects against heat. It's very lightweight - it really doesn't feel like there is any product in my hair and it leaves it feeling silky smooth and soft. It's a product that I'll definitely repurchase and it's worth keeping an eye on Cosmeticsonline.ie as they regularly have discount codes and stock some great brands.

Pixi Rose Caviar Essence: I have a post coming soon on the whole Pixi Rose Range, which I was kindly gifted but this product went straight into my daily routine because it's so lightweight yet it really hydrates my skin. I apply it after cleansing and toning but before my serum and I just love how it makes my skin look and feel - soft and plump! I can see this being a definite repurchase.

Nurse Jamie UpLift Facial Massaging Beauty Roller: Some beauty tools are gimmicks or fads but not this one. It is so easy to use and feels so soothing on the skin. It helps to depuff my undereyes, define my jawline and really soothes my head when I have a headache. I use it every evening when I'm watching tv as it's easy to do and I enjoy it! Full review here.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray: For the last 4/5 years, I have used a pillow spray on a nightly basis, without fail! This is one of my favourites because it helps me to drop off easily and quickly. I used to really struggle to get to sleep but there's no fear of that with this product - no matter what is on my mind, I just switch off within  few minutes of my head hitting the pillow! I love the calming scent and it's part of my nightly ritual that I can't be without!
