Caudalie SPF will protect your skin AND nature! Plus 20% discount code

Caudalie, Caudalie Anti-Wrinkle Face Suncare SPF 50 Review, Caudalie Beautifying Suncare Oil SPF 30 Review, Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum Review, Caudalie discount code

Call me ignorant if you wish but I only recently became aware of the huge damage that sun creams have on the environment - every year, 14000 tonnes of sun cream are discharged onto coral reefs, which is shocking. I think that we are all trying to make changes to protect our planet - reusable shopping bags, reusable coffee cups, not using plastic straws, eating less meat etc. All of these small changes add up and make it easier and less intimidating to be more environmentally friendly. It's difficult to be perfect but if we all make small changes, it will help. Another way that we can help the planet is switching up our suncare products and Caudalie have made it easy for us. Their new range of SPF products don't contain any of the filters that are suspected of being Endocrine disruptors as well as those known to be toxic to the marine eco-system, which kill thousands of corals every year.  There is no compromise on the protection the products offer though - the offer maximum SPF UVA and UVB protection and are water-resistant and are highly bio-degradable.

*Edited to add: I have had some questions (both in the comments and in DMs on social media) about the research behind the sun creams and filters. The filters, which Caudalie will not use are octinoxate, octocrylene and nanoparticle filters - these are the ones suspected of being Endocrine disruptors. They also won't use Oxybenzone and Octinoxate as these are the ones that research have shown to be toxic to the marine eco-system. This is based on the research by Joseph C DiNardo on Dermatological and environmental toxicological impact of the sunscreen ingredient oxybenzone in Journal of cosmetic dermatology 09/29/2017.  Furthermore, Caudalie have stated: Our commitment also includes a scientific guarantee by Professor Piccerelle of the Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Ecology, whose tests have validated the non-toxicity of the Caudalie filtration system on algae. This is based on ecotoxicological tests on algae, carried out by the Hélioscience Laboratory.*

I am not a scientist or medical professional but based on the research and the integrity of Caudalie, I believe that these claims are true. I'm not saying that suncream is the *only* cause of corals dying but, in my opinion, if we can play our part in reducing damage on the marine eco-system, then it is incumbent on us to do so and, in my opinion, Caudalie have made it easy for us to play our part by producing a range that will not harm the corals.

There are five products in the range and I was kindly sent three, as well as their Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, which can be used to correct and prevent dark spots from appearing. Although I haven't yet had the opportunity to try everything long enough to give you a full review, I want to share them today because there is a 20% discount off all online orders until midnight on Monday when you use the code BANKHOL19 at the checkout

Caudalie has created a new patented antioxidant complex, which offers double anti-ageing protection when combined with the four filters in their suncare range. The complex includes Polyphenols from grape seeds, Spruce Extract and Vitamin E, all of which combine to protect against free radicals. Furthermore, all of the products in the suncare line are enriched with Organic Grape water and Grapeseed oil, which increase the hydration in the skin.

Anti-Wrinkle Face Suncare SPF 50: This offers maximum UVA/UVB protection to the skin and unlike a lot of other SPF 50 products I have tried, it isn't too thick or sticky and doesn't leave a white cast on the skin. It's not greasy and yet it feels hydrating and it has a beautiful, light scent thanks to the notes of frangipani flowers. This is also available in SPF 30.

Beautifying Suncare Oil SPF 30: My husband prefers to use an oil to a lotion but I'm usually less keen but this one is a dry oil so it's more comfortable on the skin. This will definitely be coming on holiday with me next month. There are also milky lotions available if you want to avoid oils and they are available in both SPF 30 and 50.

Vinoperfect Radiance Serum:  This serum contains the brand's patented Viniferine, which targets dark spots and is 62 times more effective than Vitamin C in brightening the skin.  It doesn't just target sun spots, it also works on acne scars, pregnancy pigmentation and age-related pigmentation.  To prevent pigmentation from the sun and ensure an even skin tone, this serum can be worn under the face sun cream on a daily. They layer well together without any pilling. This is also available in a set with a free Face SPF 50.

It's also worth mentioning that there are no parabens, mineral oils, phthalates, phenoxyethanol or animal-derived products in any Caudalie products. Also, they are part of the 1% For The Planet Organization, which means that 1% of their global sales are donated to NPOs that work to protect the environment. To date, they have donated over eight million euros. I love when brands give back and this is a pretty impressive initiative.
