Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant Review

Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant Review

I'm lucky to have been part of the Dermalogica Skinfluencer* programme for around 18 months now, which is a real thrill, having been a fan and user of the brand for around 16 years, so I get excited when they release a new product. I love that they only send products that they think will suit your skin type, rather than just a blanket send out, which could be wasteful. I knew that their latest release would be right up my street so I was delighted when the Hydro Masque Exfoliant* landed through my letterbox! I just saw the words hydrating, exfoliating and 5 minutes and knew it'd be right up my street.....

It contains Bamboo to exfoliate, which is gentle but also rich in minerals.  To hydrate, it contains Snow Mushroom, which holds 450 times its weight in water. It also infuses the skin with vitamin D and antioxidants. Other ingredients include Phytolipids, which help to strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier. These Phytolipids are in the form of jojoba seed, sunflower and safflower seed. Sugar Beet delivers Amino Acids, which also hydrate and strengthen the skin's moisture barrier and finally, Cucumber Extract cools the skin.

It is applied to clean, dry skin and massaged in circular motions until the spheres disappear. It immediately feels soothing and hydrating on the skin. The mask is left on for 3-5 minutes (5 in my case as my skin is so dry, so the more moisture I can get, the better), before being rinsed and then followed with serum/eye cream and moisturiser.

Despite the exfoliating action being so gentle, the skin is left bright and radiant. It also feels very smooth and soft and looks plump, due to all of the moisture that has been infused into it. It's the perfect product to use when you don't have very much time, but want to look your best - even 3 minutes will give results so it could be used in the morning - it doesn't have to be part of a full-on evening pamper session.

I love that there is a clear panel on the side of the packaging, so I will be able to see when I am running low and re-order. It contains 50ml and can be used once or twice weekly, so should last quite a while.

It's vegan, cruelty-free and doesn't contain any artificial colours or fragrances.

I have to say that this mask has actually exceeded my expectations - usually with 5 minute masks, the effects are nothing to write home about, but this is definitely the exception and my skin is loving it! Have you tried it or does it sound like a mask you'd enjoy? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
