REVIEW: Ameliorate Skincare

Ameliorate Skincare range review
All of these products were kindly sent to me.

You will have seen me often mention Ameliorate body products on the blog - they are the best products that I have found to get rid of bumpy, chicken skin on my arms, legs etc. Using lactic acid, they gradually buff away the dead skin cells and keratosis pilaris, to leave skin baby soft, but consistent use is required. When I heard that they had moved into skincare, I was very intrigued, given the great results I had experienced with the bath & body range. I was kindly sent all four products and I have been using them for around 5 weeks now, so I am ready to share my thoughts with you today! This is a four step range, with everyday products plus a mask. It has been developed by scientists, to soothe dry skin and boost the complexion, using their LaH6 system, which combines six active active moisturising ingredients, which stimulate cell renewal through exfoliation and hydration. Other ingredients include Ceramides, Bio Honey Acids, Omega Therapies and Probiotic Technologies, which help to protect the skin's natural barrier and protect against environmental damage. I was glad to read the research that went into the products, because while their body products work so well, they are quite active, so I knew that the formulas needed to be gentler to be used on the face.

Resurfacing Facial Cleanser*: I must admit that because my skin is so sensitive, I was quite nervous about a cleanser with resurfacing in the name, as I tend to use quite gentle cleansers and my actives in toners and serums. I was also nervous because it contains shea butter, however, for some reason unknown to me, my skin seems to be tolerating this ingredient much better than it used to and when it's in a product that I am washing off my face, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I couldn't have been more wrong - this is a very gentle cleanser, packed with nourishing ingredients. It contains the afore-mentioned LaH6 Skin Hydration Complex and shea butter, cotton seed oil and prickly pear extracts, which protect the skin's moisture barrier, but you might be wondering about the resurfacing element? This is in the form of Poly Hydroxy Acids, from Bio Honey Acids. It's a creamy cleanser, which is applied to damp skin, then left for a few minutes, before rinsing. My skin does look a little red after use, but doesn't feel at all sore or stripped and it soon dissipates, so it isn't anything to worry about. It's a non-foaming cleanser but I do ensure that every bit is completely rinsed and when I touch my skin, it feels soft, rather than the tight feeling that some cleansers give. Also, in terms of packaging, I really like the pump, as it ensures it stays fresh. At £20 for 200ml, I think that this offers really good value, as only 2/3 pumps are required per use.

Transforming Facial Serum*: This is the product that I was most excited to try, because I am prone to little under the skin bumps along my jawline and texture in general, which is something that you have to stay on top of - one product won't make it disappear forever, it's only with consistent use that smooth skin can be achieved. This serum is for night-time use. It combines poly hydroxy acid, with alpha hydroxy acid; both of which gently exfoliate the skin, but it also contains the LaH6 Skin Hydration Complex, which runs throughout the line, and Hyaluronic Acid. It's important to use this product daily to see results, consistency is key (as with the body range), because changes can't be seen overnight, however over time, skin feels smoother to touch and looks more even, it also feels softer so it's an all round winner and replaces the need for separate AHA and hydration serums. If you are new to acids, you might experience some tingling, however my skin is well used to acids at this stage and I haven't had any adverse reaction.£33 for 30ml.

Replenishing Facial Cream*: Again, this has a pump, which is my favourite type of dispenser, so it got a big tick from me before I even looked at the ingredients or tried it, plus a generous 75ml in the tube. This moisturiser is PACKED with nourishing ingredients: their LaH6 complex, Ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid, Milk Protein, Oat Oil, Glycogen, Shea and Cocoa Butter and Oligogeline™ and Pollustop™(which support the skin barrier). From that ingredient list, you might think that this will be a thick, heavy cream, but it actually isn't. Yes, it's a cream, but it doesn't feel very heavy and you don't feel like you're getting a workout rubbing it in! It can be used both morning and night (at night, I often finish with an oil, especially now that the temperature has dropped) and skin is left looking plump and feeling supple over time. The key with all of these products is consistent use, that way, you will get the best results. £22 for 75ml.

Restorative Facial Mask*: If you're a regular reader, you'll know that I absolutely love overnight masks - maybe I'm lazy, but I just love the idea of applying a product and letting it get to work while I'm asleep, when it doesn't have to compete with other products, such as SPF. It can also be used as a quick fix 10 minute mask, during the day if your skin is looking dull, but my preference is overnight. It's perfect to use after the serum because it completely replenishes the skin, adding extra hydration and nourishment. It contains Squalane and Probiotic Technologies, which cocoon the skin, to protect its natural barrier. It also uses the LaH6 complex, Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, and a Polyglyceride blend, to nourish the skin and leave it bouncy. I see results the morning after use, but again, with consistent use, the best results can be seen. £30 for 75ml.

Using all four products consistently can mean that your skin can feel a little dry initially, but after 7-10 days, you will really reap the benefits and have more even, plump and bouncier skin. I am enjoying using the products and would love to see a neck cream and eye cream added to the line at some point.
