New brand overview: Refy

Refy review & swatches

I recently came across Jess Hunt's brand, Refy, on Instagram and was instantly intrigued. I know that big, bushy brows are very in at the moment and I used to have those back in the day.......when they weren't on trend! I look at Jess' brows and wish I had never taken a tweezer to mine! Jess has created the brand so that others can create the full brow look that she rocks, and also some cheek products to re-create the glowing skin look that she is also renowned for. They can be bought individually, or in sets, so I went for the Summer Skin Collection and Brow Collection, which is available in three shades - Light, Medium and Dark.

Swatches are completely unedited. From left to right: Gloss Highligher blended, Gloss Highlighter Swatched, Cream Bronzer Sand, Cream Blush Rose, Medium Pomade, Medium Pencil.

The Summer Skin Collection consists of a cream bronzer, cream blush and a gloss highlighter for £45. There are three shades of bronzer, three shades of blush and just one highlighter at the moment. You can mix and match the shades (apart from the highlighter, obviously). Cream cheek products really suit my dry skin, so I figured that I couldn't go wrong, although I was worried about the highlighter, as it looked very deep when I first dispensed some, but it blends beautifully into the skin, as you'll see in the photo above. The packaging of the products is plastic - not overly sturdy, but they also don't feel like they'll crack too easily either, so I think they match the price point.

The cream bronzer blends into the skin so easily and looks very natural when blended in. Refy sells a double ended brush, but I use my Scott Barnes Flawless Face Brush (save 20% with the code LYMIN on Look Fantastic), because it is the perfect brush for applying any cream products, as it just does the work for you. You could also use a beauty sponge, if you prefer. At £18, it's brilliant value compared to some of the other cream bronzers currently on the market (cream bronzers seem to be having a moment, and I'm here for it!).

I must admit that I was a little taken aback at how small the blush is. Their duo brush is probably the perfect brush to use with it, but I didn't want to have to buy another brush, so I use my fingers to apply it to my cheeks, and a beauty sponge to blend it in. In hindsight, I think I probably should have gone for a deeper tone, but I can work with Rose, I just think Malaya would suit my skin tone better. I have no complaints about the texture or formula of the blush, as it's so easy to apply.

Finally, is the gloss highlighter, which I thought might be too deep for my skin tone, but it blends beautifully and even just one dot on each cheekbone is perfect for a natural, glossy, daytime look, or some more could be used for a night look. It also looks pretty applied across the collar bone if wearing a cami or bardot top.

Refy Brow Collection review

The Brow Collection consists of three products: a brow sculpt (which is like a brow primer on a mini mascara wand - this is used first), a brow pomade (which is double ended, with a brush at one end and the pomade in the lid), and finally, a brow pencil (for filling in any gaps). You don't have to go for a full on Insta-brow look - the products can be used with a light hand, or even individually, for a more natural look. I have to say that for a first product release, Jess has done a fantastic job with these products. The primer really does hold brows in place, and although I would normally use a setting gel, this is a great way to get brows to stay in place, without them feeling crispy, or looking like there is a setting product in them. The pencil has a very fine nib and is retractable, which I love. I make sure that I don't release too much pencil before using it as it might break, as that has happened with other pencils. Finally, the pomade really surprised me as I was kind of over pomades, as I don't like my brows to look "perfect" - I like an everyday brow look and I can achieve that with this product. The angled brush makes it easy to use, and with light strokes, I can achieve fuller brows, but not "Insta brows" - although, if that's the look you go for, you will be able to achieve it with this trio. £40 isn't cheap so I'll decide on whether I'll repurchase when I finish the products, but overall, I'm very happy with them.

The delivery charge to Ireland was pretty pricey, however it only took two days for the products to arrive and they were securely packaged, without any waste, which I liked. Overall, I am very impressed by this brand and I look forward to seeing what products are next! I'm guessing a lip collection....

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
