It feels like an age since I did a foundation review but I really have been trying to finish base products before buying new ones and I'm almost finished one and have just finished another, so thought that I was justified in buying the Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Foundation!
The name 'Surreal Skin' caught my eye but it was when I read the description, I knew that I had to give this foundation a go. It's described as being breathable, weightless and gives medium coverage, plus promised moisture for up to 12 hours - right up my Sahara-skinned street!
There are 30 shades available and, as I pretty much always do, I guessed and got a perfect match for my skin. I'm so happy that most brands now offer a neutral option because my skin isn't cool toned but also isn't too warm.
The texture is that of a liquid, but it isn't too runny and you can tell that it has some moisturising agents in it given the slip it has. The coverage is medium, however could be sheered out and built upon but I don't know if full, full coverage could be achieved. It certainly feels weightless on the skin, which I love because as much as I love makeup, I don't like the feeling of a lot of product on my face.
What struck me most upon first applying it and what has me still reaching for it, is the skin-like finish. It really gives you the look of a very good skin day, looking natural yet polished and luminous. That's exactly the type of finish that I love. If you have combination skin, you could powder your t-zone to ensure longevity and to slightly mattify the finish.
In terms of wear time, I find that it doesn't budge and although the claims are 16 hours, I've never worn it for that long, however I find that it's still perfectly in place after a good 9/10 hours, which is probably the longest that I would routinely wear makeup (except for weddings etc).
Overall this foundation has won me over and is a definite in my rotation at the moment. I can see myself repurchasing it whenever I finish it.
Have you tried this foundation yet or any other products from the brand? I have some others that I'll share my thoughts on soon!
Available from Sephora.
