Winter skin rescue products

Winter skin rescue products, The best skincare products for winter

I don't know what it's like where you are but here in Ireland, it feels like we're on Day 999 of winter!  I know that all seasons have something to offer but this winter has been particularly cold, damp, dull and very rainy. Roll on spring! In the meantime I want to share with you the products that I have been depending on to keep my skin hydrated, nourished, comfortable and happy over the past few months.

Elemis Cleansing Balm: I love a balm cleanser in general, but even more so in winter. A good cleansing balm will leave your skin feeling thoroughly cleansed, nourished and comfortable. This Elemis one contains a combination of oils, which nourish the skin but doesn't leave any residue. It will break down all makeup and SPF, including stubborn mascara and eye liner, and is a sensorial experience. I find it therapeutic to use and love that it brings joy on even the most miserable of days!

Medicube Zero Pore Pad: I like to gently exfoliate in the colder months, rather than put my skin through anything too harsh. These pads went viral last year and I had to buy them to see what the hype was about. They contain a combination of BHA (Salicylic Acid) and AHA (Lactic Acid), which combine to deeply but gently exfoliate. I love that they are effective but not harsh.

Skin Rocks The Amplifer: This has been a key product for me over the past few months. I know that essences can be seen as gimmicky by some, but if you are seeing the effects that cold weather on your skin, I would urge you to try this product. Even if you only add one product to your routine, let it be this. It instantly soothes and hydrates the skin and makes the other products in your routine more effective.

Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MD: I'm on my second bottle of this magic potion and to be honest, when I first started to use it, I wasn't sure that it was worth the hype/price but with consistency, I could see a difference in my skin. This was in the form of lines looking less visible/softer, but also my skin looks bouncier. I was without it for around four weeks and could really see a difference in my skin (not in a good way!). Over the age of 35, we all look for peptides in our skincare because these encourage our skin to produce more collagen, which in turn helps it to look bouncy, smooth and firm. Cult Beauty currently has 20% off this!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream: This has been a go-to product for years! It instantly soothes and hydrates the skin but it also contains squalane, which nourishes the skin and strengthens the skin barrier. It's easy for the skin barrier to be damaged over the colder months and this moisturiser is excellent for repairing and strengthening it. It's a no fuss product that works wonders!

Paula's Choice Pro-Collagen Peptide Plumping Moisturiser: I'm not normally a fan of gel moisturisers but I make an exception for this one because it isn't sticky, it absorbs well and it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and looking plump and glowy. It's lightweight, doesn't pill and the hydrated feeling doesn't disappear after a few hours, which I usually find happens with gel moisturisers.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream: I love this muti-purpose cream and have been using it for years. It's especially helpful in winter because it can be used not only on the lips but also on cuticles, elbows and small patches of dry skin anywhere on the face or body. A true staple!

How was winter been for you? Have you switched up your skincare products? I'd love to hear!
