If you have been around here for any amount of time, you will know that I have dry skin. For years, I never used powder to set my base as they all just aged me and looked so cakey. Instead, I relied on setting sprays. That being said, I love the polished that a powder gives the skin and powders have come a long way - particularly in the last decade. There are still lots that I avoid but I want to share three great options with you today.
Rodial Glass Powder: A loose setting powder, this is translucent and finely milled. I like to use a light layer over my t-zone to set my base. I love that it blurs the appearance of my pores and gives my skin a polished look without adding coverage. It doesn't look flat or overly matte but also doesn't add glow - it basically makes my skin look more flawless than it actually is. It doesn't settle into fine lines or the nasolabial folds and is long-wearing on the skin.
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Ultra-Blur: Another loose powder, this one gives the skin a soft focus and slightly matte look. It's excellent for blurring pores of areas of texture and won't settle into fine lines, even after hours of wear. It's completely weightless on the skin and is available in three shades.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder: Available in 4 shades, this pressed powder is great for on the go top ups and works brilliantly as a finishing powder. It gives the skin a flawless look, gliding over porous or textured areas, reducing shine and giving the skin a soft focus look. Out of the three powders in this post, I would say that this is the least long-wearing, which is why I bought the mini for top ups on the go. It still lasts a good 5/6 hours on the skin though.
Are you a fan of powders? What's your go-to for a polished, poreless look? I'd love to hear!
