There's no doubting that Kérastase is my absolute favourite haircare brand. I dabble in others but Kérastase has been a staple in my routine for over 25 years at this stage! I think I've used products from pretty much all of the ranges apart from Curl Manifesto and the range for men. I find that everything I've tried from the brand has really improved my hair in terms of strength, elasticity, growth, bounce and shine. Also, a little goes a long way with everything so whilst they are more expensive than supermarket brands, the value is there long term, plus my BEAUTYLYMIN code will save you 21% on the products on Look Fantastic (not sponsored, I just always love to share discounts!). If you're wondering which range would suit your hair best, keep reading...
Nutritive: This range is primarily for those with normal to dry hair. There are shampoos, a conditioner and hair masks (suitability is based on how dry your hair is), a scalp serum, blowdry mist and milks, and serums. This is the range that most Kérastase salons will use on your hair unless you say that you have a specific preference or need.
Gloss Absolu: This range is aimed at frizzy hair that needs taming but also a glossy finish. It contains Glycolic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid, which smooth the cuticles of the hair whilst also hydrating. It also contains wild rose oil, which nourishes the hair but also smells amazing! Full review here.
Premiére: Suitable for all hair types, particularly if you live in a hard water area, as it removes calcium build up and uses glycine to repair damaged hair. The result is stronger hair that looks like it has been freshly coloured. Hair is left bouncy and elasticized. The key product in this range is the pre-shampoo treatment, but all work best when used together. Full review here.
Chroma Absolu: This range aims to reduce breakage, eliminate frizz and revive colour-treated hair. It uses Lactic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Amino Acids and Centella Asiatica, the combination of which gives the hair a blinding shine and makes it feel stronger, but without weighing the hair down. Full review here.
Genesis: This range is best suited to those who are experiencing hair loss. I personally find this range brilliant for reducing hair fall. I lost clumps of hair during the pandemic and relied on this range to help my hair as I was losing clumps on the daily. It made a huge difference - I started to shed a lot less hair within the first few uses and it went back to the amount that we all regularly shed after 4-6 weeks. I am now using the shampoo again and the serum, which strengthens the hair and helps reduce shedding, as I lost a lot of hair whilst I had the flu last month. I have already noticed less shedding.
Résistance: This range is aimed at weak hair that is prone to breakage and damage. It really strengthens hair that is brittle and also nourishes so that it's left feeling not only strong but soft and sleek. I used this range exclusively when trying to repair my hair after using too many box dyes and heat, and the results were fantastic. The heat protector is always in my rotation.
Chronologiste: This range treats both the scalp and hair. A happy scalp means stronger hair and this delivers on both, plus it adds moisture for nourished, bouncy and youthful hair!
Discipline: The best range for frizzy and unruly hair, regardless of whether it's straight, wavy or curly. It instantly smooths and softens the hair, whilst also adding shine. It's said to give the look of a 12 week blowdry, which I've never had done, but my hair always looks as though it's been done in a salon when I use products from this range.
Blond Absolu: Aimed at those with blonde, bleached or balayaged hair. I used this range when my hair was balayaged. It helped to remove any brassiness and to tone the blonde in my hair, whilst also strengthening and adding shine (not easy on blonde hair). Read my thoughts on the range here.
Elixir Ultime: Suitable for all hair types, particularly those in need of nourishment and shine. Most people are familiar with the oil from this range but there is also a shampoo, which I think is best suited to thick or porous hair as I found it a little heavy on my fine hair.
Others that I have one used samples of are Densifique, for fuller looking hair that is prone to being flat, and Symbiose, which is an anti-dandruff range.
Each range has a variety of products beyond the usual shampoo and conditioner - heat protectors, oils, serums, masks and some pre-shampoo treatments. All are beautifully scented.
Which range do you think is most suited to your hair type? I'd love to hear!
