3 brilliant moisturisers for dry and sensitive skin

3 brilliant moisturisers for dry and sensitive skin, Drunk Elephant, Protini Peptde Cream, La Roche Posay, Toleriane, Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance

I've mentioned (aka droned on about) several times on the blog about my dry skin. It's something I tackle daily because if I don't keep on top of my routine, my skin looks dull and makeup applies very badly on it - uneven, gathering in certain areas and patchy. Coupled with being dry, my skin is also quite sensitive so I like to use gentle but nourishing formulas and I have three moisturisers that tick my boxes to share with you today.

Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance: Dermalogica is a brand that I have used on and off for around 15/16 years and used exclusively in the 6 months prior to my wedding so I was delighted when I was recently invited to be part of their #skinfluencer campaign. In the past, I have used their Skin Smoothing Cream and Barrier Repair but based on the questionnaire that they sent me, this moisturiser is the one they deemed most suitable to my skin at the moment. This is the newly reformulated version, which is more hydrating than its predecessor. It is clinically proven to deliver moisture 10 layers deep - something I have never heard claimed before. The extremely nourishing, yet non-greasy, formula contains hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, echinacea, centella asiatica and their trademarked BioReplenish Complex, which supports the skin's barrier function. I adore this moisturiser because it replenishes my skin's moisture and leaves it feeling soft and plump but also looking brighter (due to the stabilised Vitamin C extract).

La Roche Posay Toleriane: This is a great, really affordable option and there are light and rich versions available too, depending on your skin's needs. It is a really gentle, soothing moisturiser that contains thermal water, glycerin, Vitamin B3 and ceramides, which combine to repair the skin's barrier and protect the skin. It's very lightweight in texture and layers well over other products. Although this moisturiser contains shea butter, which my face normally hates, I don't find that this breaks me out.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptde Cream: This is a really beautiful moisturiser for anyone who has dry, dull and fatigued-looking skin. As with all products from this brand, it is free from what they term the 'suspicious six' - silicones, essential oils, drying alcohol, SLS, fragrances/dyes and chemical screens. It contains a blend of 9 peptides as well as other hydrating, firming and collagen-stimulating ingredients. It has a light water-gel texture that sinks into the skin to calm, hydrate and energise the skin. I love the airtight packaging that you press down on to release some product as it keeps it fresh. My only gripe is that I seem to finish it quite quickly compared to other moisturisers but I can forgive it because of how it makes my skin look and feel - calm, bouncy and comfortable.

I'd love to hear what your favourite moisturisers are, no matter what your skin type?
