Sweat and humidity-proof makeup!

Sweat and humidity-proof makeup!

I'm not going to start this post by complaining about the weather because it's glorious! What is not so glorious however, is trying to beat the humidity in terms of makeup and hair! Hairbands are my best friend this summer because they help to tame the mane but in terms of makeup, I have some products that are working hard to keep my makeup from sliding off my face and looking like a discoball. I personally find that layering works best - thin layers of all products seem to last longer and are less likely to sweat off - sounds gross but that's the reality!

Here are some of my product suggestions that I have found able to withstand the heat and also require very little maintenance because, quite frankly, I don't want to have to think about re-applying makeup throughout the day!

Prime: I know that many people skip primer, seeing it as just an extra and unnecessary step but the right primer will ensure your base stays put on these hot, humid days. The two that I recommend that will work for all skin types are Cover FX Gripping Primer and Milk Makeup Hydro-Grip Primer, which I reviewed here. The Milk one adds a little more hydration, whereas the Gripping Primer literally grips foundation to your skin, yet it isn't drying at all. Both will really extend the wear time of foundation and are perfect for this time of year.

Base: Some days, I don't wear any foundation and rely on St Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist, which adds a subtle golden glow to my face. It is so easy to use, smells like a fruit cocktail and works within a few hours.  On days when I want to add some product to perk my skin up but don't necessarily want to wear foundation or add very much coverage (I love seeing my freckles), I reach for Omorovicza Complexion Perfector.  This blurs the appearance of pores and adds some light coverage to give skin a healthy look that isn't overly dewy. It is so easy to apply with fingers for a very quick base.  On days where I want to wear foundation, Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation is the one! This foundation uses WetForce™Technology and it is amazing to see that if I splash my face with water after applying, the water runs off! This is the best foundation I have found for hot temperatures as it doesn't budge and is also transferproof. Review here.

To conceal, I find Clarins Instant Concealer the best pick because it's lightweight yet gives good coverage. A little really does go a long way and it doesn't settle into fine lines. It's also perfect for both under eyes and on blemishes. Such an under-rated product!

To be honest, between a gripping primer and that waterproof foundation, I don't really find that I need to powder but if you feel like powdering is a necessary step, then I would recommend Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder because it mattifies the skin without making it look chalky or flat plus the compact is so slimline that it's easy to pop in your bag for top ups.

Brows: I do very little with my brows apart from using some Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Gel, which makes my brows look a little fuller while also adding some definition. What I love most about it is that it is budgeproof once set - ideal for humid days!

Lips: Again, I'm low maintenance in this weather when it comes to lip products. I find myself reaching for Clarins Water Lip Stains because they are very lightweight, add some colour and fade to a stain that is long-lasting requiring little or no maintenance throughout the day. No matter what lip product I use or even if I'm not using any other product, I apply Shiseido Lip Colour Splash throughout the day as it contains SPF30 and I find that it layers well over other products. It's so important not to neglect your lips when it comes to SPF!

That's pretty much it! I can't recommend a waterproof mascara as I have never found one that is actually waterproof and I have lash extensions at the moment so I don't need to wear one. I highly recommend lash extensions as long as you can find a really good practitioner. I used to think that my lashes would fall out or be damaged but it really isn't the case with the right person applying them.

How is your makeup standing up to the heat? Have you used any of these products? I'd love to hear!
