I don't believe in labelling products as 'bad' but inevitably, there will be some that just don't suit my skin/hair etc. Today I am sharing some recent disappointments from brands that I usually love and I would love to hear any that you may have in the comments below...
Sunday Riley Aquamarine Melt Hydrating Gel-Balm Cleanser: I'd had my eye on it since it was released because I'm a huge fan of the brand and thought it would make a great summer cleanser but I just cannot get on board with it. On paper, I should love this - a gel-balm that melts into an oil when massaged in, with skin nourishing and replenishing ingredients. My face just does not like it! I find it too fragranced and it leaves my skin feeling dry and tight rather than soft and comfortable. The texture is just okay - I thought that it would appeal to me more but maybe my dry skin just prefers solid balms or creams. Overall, it's just a no from me but I still love the brand!
Redken Acidic Bond Concentrate Strength Repair 24/7 Day & Night Serum: I love the other products in the ABC line (review here), so when I saw this was released early this year, I bought it as I had just finished another bottle of Kérastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum, which I love. I love using products that will help to protect and strengthen my hair and particularly if they can be used daily without making my hair greasy. This serum can be used day or night, on dry hair and it doesn't weight it down or increase the need for washing. My main issue with it is the strong scent - it isn't offensive (in fact, I've had compliments on it), but I find that it is making my hair feel dry. Don't mistake me saying that it feels dry to it feeling broken as that really isn't the case, it just doesn't feel as nourished as when I use the Kérastase serum with the same aims. Those who don't have naturally dry hair may not find this to be the case.
Jo Malone Hand Cream: Again, this is not a bad product, it's just not the most nourishing hand cream. I bought two different scents on a whim and whilst they smell amazing and absorb well, the initial moisturised feeling doesn't last and also isn't nourishing enough for my dry hands! I feel like they're princess products so whilst they're a good size for my handbags and smell great, I won't be repurchasing.
I'd love to hear if you've been disappointed by any products recently?
