I'm off to Rome tomorrow morning with my husband! We first went to Rome on our honeymoon and I was so, so ill and we've been saying for years that we must re-visit so this year for our wedding anniversary, he surprised me with this trip and I couldn't be more excited! I like travelling with just hand luggage for convenience as that there is no waiting around in the baggage collection area but I always struggle with liquids! There's no doubt that I'll be using some of my husband's allowance too but I think I've done a pretty good job at narrowing it down to necessities!
Skincare: I'm taking some minis that I've stashed away and also some that were in some of the sets I featured in my Christmas gift guides. Anything gifted to me will be marked with a *. I absolutely love Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm* because it removes makeup and cleanses without stripping the skin. I don't have enough space for an elaborate routine but I'm focusing on hydration so I'll be using Image Hydrogel Hydrating Sheet Masks*, which will quench my skin's thirst. I was kindly sent a Space Mask* recently, which I kept for this trip as I think it will be the perfect treat at the end of a busy day sightseeing. I am also taking Estée Lauder Micro Essence and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream, which I will use both morning and night. In the morning, my moisturiser will be Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance*, which is perfectly suited to my skin (I need to repurchase a full size because it nourishes, brightens and smooths my skin) and at night, I'll apply Omorovicza Midnight Radiance Mask* (again from my Christmas Gift Guides) because I always wake to better skin when I use this. This mask leaves skin smooth, soft and translucent. I'm also taking a mini MV Organics Pure Jojoba Oil because it's a real multi-tasker - I can use it on my face, if needed but also on my cuticles/body too. I have so many lip balms but the one I'm taking is Kopari Lip Glossy as I can wear it day and night - it nourishes and leaves a nice, glossy finish on the lips (hence, the name) but it also smells amazing!
Makeup: This is probably as minimal as I get! I always need a primer and this mini tube of Becca Backlight Filter is perfect as it hydrates but also adds some glow! I love how compact the bottle of Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation* is, which makes it perfect for travelling. I also love how long-lasting and lightweight it is. Clarins Instant Concealer provides excellent coverage without being cakey, it also doesn't crease or separate and is a great size for travelling also. I always need an eye primer and this mini Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Primer works brilliantly to prevent my shadow from disappearing or creasing. Speaking of eyeshadow, I'm taking Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise Star Gold, which I am currently wearing non-stop and I will either wear it alone or use some of the bronzer from my Charlotte Tilbury Lightgasm palette to blend it out. This palette is ideal for times when space is limited as it has a blush, highlighters and a bronzer. For my brows, Benefit Gimme Brow will work nicely to fill them in and add some volume and, again, it's tiny! I've just had my lash extensions reapplied so I don't need mascara or liner. Finally, I have two lip options and both are Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Mini Charms* - JK Magic (a nude) and Amazing Amal (a soft berry pink shade) and Pillow Talk Lip Cheat as it matches my lip colour and will work with both lipsticks.
Other: Clean Reserve Warm Cotton* is the perfect hand luggage/handbag size fragrance and I love how clean, fresh and comforting the scent is. I also never go anywhere without a hand cream and the limited edition L'Occitane Festive Garden* not only looks beautiful but it also smells amazing (mandarin and ylang ylang) and does a great job at keeping my hands soft. I'm taking a mini Rituals The Ritual Of Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel, which smells of Indian Rose and Sweet Almond Oil - yum! I love that it doesn't dry my skin out. I've just realised that I don't have body lotion so I will either use the hotel's offering or buy a mini when I am there.
I think that I've managed pretty well for 3 nights/4 days given that I usually use half my luggage allowance on toiletries (I like to have options!). Do you struggle when travelling with hand luggage only? A total first world problem, I know!
Arrivederci....
