Have you entered my Christmas giveaway here?
I thought that makeup favourites would be my longest post of the week but when you see my discoveries post (tomorrow), you will know that this actually isn't a huge list! There are a lot of well loved products in this post that featured in previous years also. Although I love trying new products, there are some that just can't be beaten and are staples in my routine. None of these products were sent to me. Let's get into them.....
Primer: One that isn't pictured above but that I recently finished my third tube of is Huda Beauty Complexion Perfection, which I have reviewed here. This nourishing primer provides the perfect base for any foundation if you have dry skin but it doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy. It works will all foundations, no matter what the formula. My second favourite has to be Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, which is an absolute staple in my routine and has been for around 19 years. This instantly tightens and brightens the skin, making it look fresh and provides an even canvas for any base product. Full review here. LOVE!
Foundation: I have made some gorgeous foundation discoveries this year so they will be in tomorrow's post but two that I have repurchased this year are IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream (not pictured above as I am waiting for it to arrive, review here) and L'Oreal Infallible Pro Glow. I just love how both of these look on my skin - they give a natural radiance with medium coverage and the wear time on both is excellent. If you have dry skin and like your skin to look luminous without being overly dewy, I would recommend trying either of these base products.
Highlighter: The first product isn't necessarily a highlighter - Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter gives life to the face. It can be used under, over or mixed with foundation and it's basically healthy, glowing skin in a bottle! Also from Charlotte Tilbury, I have to mention Hollywood Beauty Light Wand, which I have almost finished. I love the glow that this gives to my skin - it is as far away from a discoball effect that you can get, it's a sophisticated highlight and because of the liquid formula, it glides onto the skin and doesn't settle into fine lines. A dreamy product that I will definitely repurchase. Finally, another product that I have to mention because I use it so frequently (as you can see from the photo above!), is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow. I just adore the finely milled texture of both the bronzer and highlighter - they are so easy to work with and never look muddy or gather in any areas of textured skin. The bronzer adds some gentle definition rather than a sharp contoured look and the highlighter gives the skin a glossy look without looking wet. Review here.
Blush: I have so many blushes that I love but the one that I have probably reached for most often this year is By Terry Terrybly Densiliss. There's little doubt that this is a bougie, expensive blush but the formula is divine - so velvety smooth and it applies so evenly over the cheeks, without highlighting any porous areas. This will last forever as it's quite pigmented so a little goes a long way!
Eyes: For once, I am not featuring a palette! Being completely honest (as I always am), the product that I have worn on my eyes most this year and have already bought a back up of is Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in the shade Rose Gold. I've raved about this so many times since buying it early this year. I adore the colour, which really suits my green eyes but I think it would work so well on all eye colours, but I also love how quick and easy it is to use! One light layer gives a sheer wash of colour but it can be built up to achieve a more intense results. It works well on its own but also under and over eyeshadows as a base or topper.
Lips: Again, easy is the choice when it comes to lips and I have loved wearing By Terry Lip Expert Lip Shines this year. They are compact, which makes them perfect for popping in even small handbags, I love the doe foot applicator, which is shaped to fit the lips comfortably and makes application and top ups so easy to do. I love the glossy finish but also that they colour lasts longer than with a regular gloss. My other go-to lip product this year has been Clarins Instant Lip Perfectors - I seem to have one in every handbag! I love easy these are to apply and top up, but also how comfortable they feel on the lips and the subtle glossy finish that they give.
Brushes: I don't usually include brushes in makeup favourites but two have really stood out to me this year! The first being Powder'N'Pout HD Blender P220, which is from an Irish company. This is like a beauty blender in brush form! It has a dome shaped, densely packed head that really helps foundation to mesh to the skin for a very seamless look. I also find that it absorbs very little product so there is less waste than with other foundation brushes. The second brush is Bobbi Brown Blush Brush. I had my eye on this for a long time before I actually took the plunge and bought it and I am so glad that I did. It seems to deposit the perfect amount of product to my cheeks and is so soft that it helps to give the skin a very natural look. Obviously, you can keep layering if you like a more intense look but I find that this works so well with all of my blushes to apply the perfect amount. It also washes really well without shedding any hairs.
Have you tried any of these? I would love to hear what have been your makeup favourites for 2019?
Thanks for reading!
