You might think that a Clarins and The Kooples collaboration is a bit random but it's actually a good match as they are both French brands and they both epitomise sophisticated French chic style. This is a limited edition collaboration so if you are a fan of either brand (or especially, both) or if you like to collect limited edition beauty releases, you are going to love these lip oils.
If you are unfamiliar with Clarins Lip Comfort Oils, you need to get acquainted because have a really nourishing formula that works well all year round if you have dry lips, but particularly well in the colder months. They contain a combination of hazelnut and jojoba oil, both of which are really nourishing but they don't feel heavy or gloopy on the lips. They also have a glossy finish so they can be worn alone for a hint of colour or over any lipstick for extra comfort and shine. The sponge tip applicator makes them easy to apply and also hassle-free to top up on the go. There are normally 10 shades available but at the moment, there are an extra two limited edition shades, which I am talking about today.
|Swatches unedited. Top is Dark Stone and bottom is Light Stone.|
Now I must admit that when I saw Dark Stone, I worried that I might look like a corpse but as you can see in the photo above, it isn't actually black and it changes when applied to the lips as it adapts to the pH of the lips of whoever wears it. It actually looks like a deep blackberry on my lips, with a shimmer running through it. Dark Stone also contains organic argan oil and smells good enough to eat! Light Stone is probably the one that I will get the most wear from because it's a light pink shade that I'll wear on no makeup days but also over lipsticks as it will work well with any nude lip. It contains organic coconut oil but if you don't like the scent of coconut, don't worry as t's barely detectable.
The packaging that the lip oils are housed in is stunning and collectors will definitely want to keep them. Black and gold for Dark Stone and white and gold for Light Stone. Mine were housed in a gorgeous Clarins x The Kooples box and tied with a ribbon, which I will also keep! As I said earlier, these are limited edition and only on sale since Wednesday so if you want to get your hands on them, act fast! I also think that they would make a perfect stocking filler for any fashion and beauty lover!
