Morphe base products review

Morphe, Cult Beauty Brand of The Month, Morphe Fluidity Full Coverage Foundation, Morphe Liquid Full Coverage Concealer, Morphe Finishing powder, Morphe Foundation Primer

Morphe is Cult Beauty's Brand Of The Month for October, which means there is free international shipping on all Morphe products. There is also a free eye primer set with every order over £40 this month. I love when there is free shipping on budget brands because if you have to pay shipping every time you buy a budget product, it doesn't really feel like a bargain. Over the last 12-18 months, I've been trying various products from the brand and I really rate the eyeshadows and the Continuous Setting Mist. I was recently sent a bundle of Morphe base products to try to coincide with the launch of the Fluidity Full Coverage Foundation on Cult Beauty. Usually, I would test for a month or so before writing about products but if I wait that long, the free shipping offer would be over as it is only available until midnight on the 31st so I wanted to let you know my thoughts sooner rather than later so that you can buy if you like the sound of the products.

Foundation Primer: There are two primers available to choose from, depending on your skin type. Equaliser is a pore smoothing primer and Revitaliser, which is the one I have, is hydrating. I always, always use a primer before foundation because my skin is so dry and I find that foundation never sits evenly on my skin without a primer. I must admit that this primer has pleasantly surprised me as quite often, primers are not nourishing enough for my Sahara-like skin. What I love about this primer is that it hydrates the skin but doesn't feel heavy, greasy or like there is an extra layer of product on my skin. It just feels comfortable and I've tried matte, glowy and natural foundations over it and all applied evenly. The only negative is that there is only 20ml of product in the tube but at only £12, it's very reasonably priced.

Fluidity Full Coverage Foundation: There are a whopping 60 shades of this foundation available so there should be one for everyone. I'll be honest, I expected that I really wouldn't like this foundation as full coverage just isn't my thing and matte bases don't tend to look good on my skin but, again, I have been pleasantly surprised. A little goes a long way with this product and I find that I can actually sheer it out so that the coverage isn't full as long as I use a pea sized amount for my whole face and I can build in areas if I choose to. If full coverage is your thing, you will love this foundation but somehow, it's not mask-like (well unless you layer and layer!). My dry skin needs to be well hydrated and primed before using this foundation but I actually find it easier to work with than Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation, which is similar in coverage and finish. I expected the finish to be very matte but it's more of a soft/velvet matte, which is quite flattering.  It is easy to apply - a buffing brush or beauty sponge is best (their Complexion Blending Beauty Sponge works really well to ensure a seamless finish). I have found that it glides over pores and fine lines and the wear time is pretty good - at around the 8 hour mark, I can notice a little creasing at the sides of my nose but a quick dab and it's fixed. Will it be the foundation I reach for on a daily basis? No, however on days where I don't want a dewy or glowy finish, which most of my foundations give, this would be a good pick. Those with oily skin or those who love full coverage, will really enjoy this foundation.

Liquid Full Coverage Concealer: Available in 31 shades, this full coverage concealer has quite a creamy consistency but I find that it sets quite quickly.  I apply some to my hand and then apply to the areas needed rather than using the doe foot applicator to put the product directly on to my face. That's just my personal preference, you can definitely use the applicator to apply to the face if you like to use a lot of concealer but I find that a little goes a long way with it so just small amounts are enough for me. It works well to cover dark circles, however I prefer to use it on blemishes as it's a little drying on my under eye area. Those with oily, combination or younger skin (without any fine lines) will be able to use this in all areas of the face and will be impressed with the coverage and staying power.

Finishing Powder: Available in 15 shades, this powder adds a little coverage and sets foundation in place. Inside the compact lid is a mirror and under the powder itself, is a powder puff for top ups on the go. It is described as giving a soft-focus appearance and oil-absorbing however on my dry skin, I find that it looks cakey and is very visible on the skin. For those with oily skin, it will probably work better but it's a no for me!
