Brand Focus: Summer Fridays

Brand Focus: Summer Fridays
Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted, without obligation.

Over the Christmas break, I was looking back at what were my most popular posts, not just last year, but it previous years too, and standing out overwhelmingly, were my Brand Focus posts so naturally, I've decided to bring them back! I've done a lot of mainstream brands, so this time around, I'd like to do some newer brands, starting today with Summer Fridays, which is a brand that was created by two bloggers who had tried almost every product on the market, but wanted to create their own streamlined range of effective products, so they teamed up with experts to do just that! It started with just one mask and has steadily grown, which I personally love, because I'm not a huge fan of new brands releasing a whole line at once - I feel that focusing on one product and doing it right, is the best way to go and then add further products when you know that the first is a success. I've tried all but one product from the brand and want to share my thoughts with you today. I'l start by saying that I love the aesthetic - simple, pastel colours with the logo and product names. Simple, but pretty. Anything marked with a * was kindly gifted to me without obligation, but I bought most products myself.

Super Amino Gel Cleanser: Gel cleansers can be hit & miss for my dry skin, but this is a definite hit! This is a nourishing gel cleanser, which gently foams, but doesn't strip the skin at all. It feels like a very nourishing gel, which is packed with coconut and sunflower oil, amino acids, which strengthen the skin, Vitamin E, to moisturise the skin and also ingredients to protect against free radicals and minerals to protect collagen in the skin. I think that this cleanser would suit all skin types and you really don't need to use very much product. I personally wouldn't use it to remove my makeup as I tend to need a balm or oil to break down my makeup, however it is the perfect second cleanse or morning cleanse. One I'll repurchase.

Soft Reset AHA Exfoliating Solution: A pricey acid toner at £49 for 100ml, however this is an outstanding product! It contains 16% AHA (a combination of Lactic and Glycolic Acids), but also niacinamide, glycerin, turmeric, aloe and sodium hyaluronate - this combination balances the AHA response. Skin is left extremely smooth, soft, with refined pores and clear skin. It's described as a 3 in 1  overnight product - it exfoliates, brightens and reduces the appearance of pores. It has the texture of a lotion-serum hybrid, but I personally still use a serum, as my skin is so dry. This really gives Biologique Recherche P50 a serious run for it's money. My skin has never felt softer than since I started using this and I personally prefer to use it at night. If you are unaccustomed to acids, start with twice weekly and build up to nightly. CC Me Serum*: Vitamin C can be a tricky ingredient, so I was slightly hesitant about trying a serum, which contains two types of the vitamin - 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid and ascorbyl glucoside, which are both stable forms of the vitamin. My pet peeve with Vitamin C serums is that they often oxidise too quickly, making them a waster of money. This is a very light textured serum, which means that it layers well with other products, without pilling. It contains glycerin and squalane, which means that it's very nourishing, and it also contains niacinamide, which helps with calming the skin, as well as reducing the appearance of pores and hyperpigmentation. Overall, skin looks brighter and firmer overall and due to the pump, oxidisation is not an issue.

Cloud Dew Oil-Free Gel Cream Moisturiser: The latest release from the brand,. Gel moisturisers don't usually suit my dry skin, but because this contains ceramides, three weights of hyaluronic acid and amino acids, it's actually very nourishing and hydrating, without feeling heavy at all. It also contains pineapple enzymes, which help to brighten the complexion. The texture is super-light, yet it packs a punch in terms of hydration and doesn't feel at all greasy. It leaves skin feeling super soft and bouncy and looking luminous. This moisturiser has really surprised me and I think that all skin types would enjoy it.

Jet Lag Mask: The first product that the brand created, which was to replenish skin after travelling or any period where your skin is very dry. It can be used as a traditional mask - left on for 10-15 minutes, or my preference is to leave it on overnight. I actually tend to use it as an eye mask, and it works wonders when my skin is feeling very parched - especially due to central heating, cold weather, an open fire and more (obviously it's the ideal product to use on a long-haul flight). It contains a blend of oils, shea butter, glycerin and packs a serious punch in terms of moisture. I love that all of their masks are in tubes, so that there's no waste - I can roll and squeeze every last drop out.

R+R mask*:  If you like physical exfoliants, you will love this mask, but don't mistake it for the physical masks of old, that tore your skin. It combines argan, sesame, avocado and grapeseed and rose oil, as well as Vitamin C and rose flower extracts (these are the physical components, which gently exfoliate the skin). Because there are oils, combined with the very fine physical exfoliant particles, skin is left radiant, smooth and soft. It's the perfect pre-makeup application mask. Full review here

Lip Butter Balm: This is one of the most nourishing lip balms I have ever used. A lot of lip balms nourish your lips upon application, but then after an hour or so, lips are back to being dry, but with this one, the nourished and soft feeling lasts all day. Whenever we can travel again, this will definitely be in my handbag because my lips always dry out on flights. It combines shea butter with murumuru butter and you only need the tiniest amount to nourish parched lips and add some shine.  If you have very dry lips, you need to try this lip balm!

If you've tried the R+R mask, I would love to hear your thoughts, as that is the only product from the brand that I have yet to try! What I would love to see next from this brand is a hydrating mist or a hydrating serum, but I'm excited to see what's to come and to watch the brand grow!
