Scalp care is so important. We take care of the skin on our face and body, so why wouldn't we extend the care to our scalp? I'll be honest, for years I never thought about an extra product to remove build up on my scalp - that has probably only changed within the last decade and I shudder to think of how many products I used for years prior to that without using a specific scalp exfoliator. I have used a number over the years but I have settled on a favourite that I want to share with you today, which is Remi Bye Bye Build Up Scalp Exfoliator...
Remi is a brand that was founded by Claire Fullam who became a trichologist after experiencing extensive hair loss. The brand is backed by science and their mission is to reframe haircare to scalp care, after all that really is where hair health begins.
I had told my mother that my thinning hair was really bothering me and that I had tried a variety of serums etc and she actually told me about Remi as she had seen it being discussed in a segment about hair loss on a TV show. I then did some research and decided to try it. It makes sense that there is no point in applying hair growth products to your scalp if the follicles are blocked. It's now a firm staple in my routine.
I had previously tried physical scalp scrubs but Remi Bye Bye Build Up Scalp Exfoliator is a triple acid product, which contains glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids. This combination deeply cleanses the scalp but also removes surface build up of products as well as sweat and flakey skin. It does so without stripping the scalp or leaving it irritated because it also contains soothing ingredients, such as witch hazel leaf water, panthenol and wheat protein.
It has a gel texture and is easy to apply via the nozzle at the top of the bottle. I apply all over my scalp and leave it to work for around 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly and continuing with my haircare routine. I don't find that it tingles but it definitely works because my scalp feels refreshed and my haircare products seem to work more effectively, resulting in my hair looking and feeling better. I use once weekly but depending on your lifestyle/product use, twice weekly might work better for you.
I have noticed with consistent use, that my hair feels clean for longer so I don't have to wash or use heat products as often, and overall my hair looks better and my scalp feels calm. Longer term, I am hoping to see better results from any scalp serums that I use, as well as my CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Growth Helmet*, which must be used on clean hair (and obviously a clean scalp is best too!). I use the helmet daily and really have found good results with it, even without serum use, but I expect those results to be better as time goes on now that I have found the perfect scalp exfoliator. I have a discount code for the hair growth helmet, which saves 10%. The code is LYMINCB and it can be used across the CurrentBody range (not sponsored, I just love to share a deal!).
If you are in the market for a scalp exfoliator (everybody would benefit from using one), I can't recommend Remi Bye Bye Build Up Scalp Exfoliator enough.
