My top five Pixi makeup products

Pixi Makeup Top Five

Following on from Thursday's Top Five Pixi Skincare products post, I wanted to share my five favourite makeup products from the brand today! Now I will admit that I have tried more skincare than makeup from the brand so it wasn't too difficult to choose five! The packaging is very similar to the skincare products, which is green plastic with a clear lid when it comes to powder products - it's not particularly aesthetically pleasing but with the prices of the products, it's difficult to criticise! I also want to mention that Pixi is Cult Beauty's Brand Of The Month, which means that there is free international shipping on all products for the month of April.

Rose Flash Balm: This is kind of a skincare/makeup hybrid but I've included it here because I like to use it as a primer. I find that a thin layer of this makes my skin look plump and fresh and all liquid foundations apply easily and evenly over it. It doesn't necessarily extend the wear time of my base but if you have dry or dull skin, you will love this!

Make Up Fixing Mist: I've tried most of Pixi's Face Mists but the thing is, the spray isn't very fine on them so actually calling it a mist is a little mis-leading. That being said, because I know that, I can work with it by making sure I spray from a distance. This particular spray is infused with rose water and green tea, which means that it smells amazing but it's also soothing on the skin. I find this mist brilliant over powders to make sure my base doesn't look cakey and it generally makes my foundation look fresh and dewy as well as extending the wear time - perfect for my dry skin.

Eyeshadow palette: I have a post coming soon on the entire Pixi Pretties range, which was in collaboration with 3 beauty gurus, but I just wanted to mention the eyeshadow formula. The shadows are pigmented and the perfect texture - not so soft that they will crumble and not stiff or powdery enough to cause kickback in the pan or fallout on the cheeks and that applies to both mattes and shimmers. I also find them to last a good 8/9 hours before any creasing or fading occurs. They are comparable to higher end shadows but with a mid-range price.

Eye liner: I first bought the liquid liner over 3 years ago and I loved it because I can achieve a thin line or go to a full on cat flick, depending on my mood. The nib is very precise and I love how opaquely black it is. The eye liner that is included in the Pixi x Weylie set is double-ended with a kohl on the other end. The kohl is smooth, pigmented and pretty long-lasting once it sets so if you want to smudge, you need to do it quickly!

Lip Icing Lip Glow: I personally prefer to use this as a lip topper than a gloss on its own but it can be used either way. It has a really smooth formula, isn't sticky and this particular shade is very flattering because it has a faint gold shimmer, which makes the lips look plump!

I'm yet to try any of the liquid lipsticks but they sound amazing so they are on my 'to try' list. I'd love to hear any recommendations you might have?

Don't forget that there is free shipping on all Pixi products for the month of April with Cult Beauty!
