Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oil review

Aromatherapy Associates Miniature Bath & Shower Oil Collection Review

I've mentioned before on the blog that whilst I spend a lot on skincare, I tend to use budget bath and body products the majority of the time. However, when it's been one of those days (or weeks!), I feel that I deserve a little treat and I always reach for the most luxurious products in my stash and give myself a good pamper. This will always start with a bath because I find that is the best way for me to switch off and relax. An essential component of this is a nice bath oil and they don't come better than Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oils. This Miniature Bath & Shower Oil set would make an amazing gift because who isn't in need of a pamper every now & then? Also, it contains a variety of oils - some to help you relax, some to help decongest and other that help to revive so there is an oil for all issues! I want to talk you through my thoughts on the oils today and let you know my favourite that I will be purchasing the full size of.

Beautifully presented in a deep mulberry coloured box with gold writing, this set screams luxury. Inside are 10 oils, which can be added to running water in the bath or used in the shower or for some extra t.l.c. they can be massaged into your torso, before bringing your hands to your face and inhaling the beautiful aromatherapy scent and then getting into the bath or shower.

The oils included in the set are:

Deep Relax: Vetivert & Camomile - this oil is perfect for inducing a deep sleep. I used this after a few nights of broken sleep and slept (snored according to my husband) for 9 hours! I will definitely purchase a full size of this!

Light Relax: Ylang Ylang & Lavender - lavender always makes me switch off so this is ideal to use in the evening when you want to relax but not necessarily fall asleep straight after.

De-stress Mind: Frankincense & Camomile - I found this brilliant when I had a tension headache - definitely better than taking a paracetamol! I really focused on my breathing when I used this and it gave me the chance to gather myself and re-focus.

De-stress Muscle: Lavender & Black Pepper - lavender helps me to relax, while the black pepper warmed the senses. This would be ideal after a strenuous workout!

Revive Morning: Rosemary & Pink Grapefruit - this fresh scent is invigorating and really put a pep in my step!

Revive Evening: Geranium & Ylang Ylang - this is warming and uplifting but it doesn't invigorate as such so it's fine to use in the evening as it won't disturb your sleep.

Support Breathe: Eucalyptus & Peppermint - this is brilliant for when you are congested and sinusy. I placed some in my hands, massaged into my chest area and then inhaled before using the rest of the oil in the bath and stayed there for around 30 minutes as the aroma filled the room and it really helped me to clear my sinuses. I will definitely purchase a full size of this for winter.

Support Lavender & Peppermint: As the name suggests, this contains lavender and peppermint - I actually found this brilliant for nausea and when I was feeling generally unwell with a bug that couldn't decide if it was going to develop or not! I was just feeling under the weather but not enough to go to the doctor, so I inhaled this throughout the few days that I was feeling unwell and then used it in the bath and it really helped to relieve the malaise.

Support Equilibrium: Geranium & Rose - this basically transported me to my childhood in my Granda's garden as he always had roses and lots of geraniums, which lasted all summer so I associate this oil with very happy times. For me, it gave a warm, cosy feeling and really lifted my spirits. I am going to buy a bottle of this for my mother as I know it will do the same for her!

Inner Strength: Clary Sage & Cardamom - this is the oil I was most curious about because I wondered how it would boost inner strength but let me tell you that, for me, this feels balancing. I feel like it calms the mind yet it doesn't necessarily relax - it's as though it just makes me take a deep breath and centre myself. It's one that I think most people would benefit from.

I am a big fan of aromatherapy - I used to go for weekly massages and the therapist would create a new lotion each week combining the oils that I responded best to on that particular day and would then give me a bottle to take home for my husband to massage into me nightly. The individuality of that treatment really helped me as some days, I needed help to unwind, others I needed a lift. These Aromatherapy Associates oils and this set, in particular, feels like I have that therapy in my own home!

I will definitely be purchasing the full size of some of these oils and I really think that this set would be a gift that anyone would love to receive. Next on my 'to try list' is a candle because I always have a candle on the go and the idea of filing the room with an aromatherapy scent, really appeals!

Are you a fan of aromatherapy? How do you like to pamper yourself? I'd love to hear!
