The Spring Beauty Edit

The Spring Beauty Edit, Herbae par L'Occitane review

Spring has arrived.... allegedly! Somebody needs to tell the weather to play catch up! Spring is my favourite season - I love seeing buds blossom and hearing birds chirping in the mornings and, of course, the longer evenings. Whilst I haven't switched my wardrobe up yet ( that's on next week's to-do list), I have started to switch my makeup up to introduce lighter bases and some Spring colours and I want to share my top picks with you today.

Base: I tend to go lighter with my base in Spring and at the moment, I am mainly going between IT Cosmetics CC Cream and Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint.  The Hourglass foundation gives medium coverage with a radiant finish and feels really comfortable on the skin. I love how it glides over fine lines and blurs pores and it lasts a good 9/10 hours. The IT Cosmetics CC cream offers more coverage and has a satin/dewy finish. Both base products are very comfortable to wear - lightweight is the way to go in Spring! For concealer, I am going between Clarins Instant Concealer and IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illuminating Concealer, which I have a full review of coming soon. The Clarins concealer is a really under-rated product - it gives really decent coverage but is really lightweight and hydrating so it works well both under the eyes and on blemishes. Come back on Friday to read more about the IT Cosmetics concealer.

Cheeks:  I have two blush picks - a cream and a powder. I love how fresh cream blush looks on the cheeks so I've put Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera back into rotation because I find it so easy to work with and the shade is very flattering on my medium skin. The powder blush that I am currently obsessed with is By Terry Terrybly Densiliss blush in the shade Platonic Blonde.  A fresh pinky-coral shade is perfect for Spring! To add some some gentle definition and also because I want to finish a product that I've hit pan on, I'll use Natasha Denona Sculpt & Glow Palette. I love the cream contour product in this palette and wish it was sold individually because the powder contour in this palette is really awful - lacking in pigment like the original contour powder.  On days when I'd prefer to use powder to add definition, I'll use my favourite Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow, which is another product that I have hit pan on. Flawless Filter gives my skin a gorgeous glow so that will be a staple and for some extra highlight, or for days when I want to use a powder, I'll be reaching for the highlight shade in the Charlotte Tilbury palette, which I have also hit pan on!

Eyes: I've just ordered the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Rose Gold and I know I'll be wearing that a lot as I love the formula. I'm using my custom MAC palette a lot again at the moment - my favourite shades being Soba, Cork, Woodwinked and Tempting. These shades are perfect for both day and evening and can work from a quick wash of colour to a full glam eye. Every time I go back to my MAC palette, I fall back in love!

By Terry Lip Expert Shine Review

Lips: At the moment, it's all about By Terry Lip-Expert Shine.  I have two: Baby Beige and Bare Flirt, both of which are nudes although the latter is a pinky nude. I love how comfortable these are on the lips and they are longer-lasting than a regular gloss, plus they're non-sticky.  On days when I want to keep it very minimal, it will be the reliable Dior Lip Glow.

Nails: For the past few weeks, I have been wearing either Smith & Cult Extra Ordinary, which is a bright pink with a glossy finish, or Essie Fiji, which is a milky pale pink. This will continue over the coming weeks because I just love both shades so much!

Herbae par L'Occitane review

Fragrance: I'm a fragrance addict and tend to go for light, fresh scents in Spring. At the moment, I am reaching for Herbae par L'Occitane and my two favourite Jo Loves scents. Herbae par L'Occitane is what I would describe as Spring in a bottle! It is a very clean, fresh, green scent. It has top notes of bergamot, pink pepper and ambrette. The middle notes include blackberry, rose hip and sage and the base notes include grass, honey and musk. This unique mix of notes combine to create a fresh but lightly fruity with a hint of musk, scent that make me think of the first lawn mow of Spring and the airiness that reflects that. I have previously described how much I love the Jo Loves fragrances here and both of these scents will be even more perfect in Spring.

Are you a fan of Spring? What are your top beauty picks for the season? I would love to hear!
