Top tier festive makeup picks...

Top tier festive makeup picks
Anything marked with a & was kindly gifted to me.

I think that most of us take it up a notch when it comes to our makeup at Christmas, whether we're going out partying or just visiting friends and family (or even just staying at home - why not add some sparkle?!). I don't party much these days but still like to go a bit more glam than my everyday makeup for at least some of the days over the festive period. Here are my top picks (I'd love to hear yours!).....

Base: My two go-to base products are Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Both are repeat repurchases for me. I have raved many, many times about both on the blog. They suit my dry skin so well, giving medium coverage in the case of Luminous Silk and medium-full in the case of IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Both glide over pores and fine lines, give the skin a radiant finish and are very long-lasting on the skin - exactly what I need for long days/evenings!

Rodial Banana Lowlighter: This is an essential product because late nights always show in my under eye area these days but this one product will eliminate them in an instant, making me look wide awake and fresh (even if I don't feel it!). For general concealing, I love

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder: This powder gives the base a polished and poreless look, without highlighting fine lines or looking cakey.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray: For completely budgeproof makeup, a few quick sprays of this and I'm sorted! Even hugs and kisses aren't any competition for my base makeup when I wear this!

Cheeks: Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wands: For a flush of colour that also highlights the skin without the disco ball effect, these are perfect! I have several, so it depends on what other makeup I'm wearing as to which I will choose but I just know that I can't go wrong with them!

For highlighter, I'll either use Refy Gloss Highlighter if I want a liquid, or Rare Beauty Silky Touch Highlighter (which got damaged in transit on a flight!). Neither one is subtle, but that's what Christmas makeup is all about for me!

To add some definition, I'm back on the Benefit HOOLA Bronzer train because it's the perfect shade to bronze up the face but also to add some shade under the cheekbones.

Eyes: I'm addicted to Victoria Beckham Lid Lustres. They are the perfect products for mature lids as they apply so smoothly and have sophisticated glitter sprinkled throughout. They do all of the talking and only mascara is required after that!

Urban Decay Naked Metal Mania Palette*: I have a review of this palette, with swatches here. With this palette, I can do a matte eye look, a metallic look or a shimmery eye for something less dramatic than metallic. There are basic shades for everyday wear and then some absolutely stunning standout shades for when I want to go bold!

YSL Lash Clash Mascara: I love full, dramatic, voluminous lashes and this mascara is the closest I've ever come to the look of false lashes. It's very black (available in brown also), adds mega volume, doesn't make my lashes crispy and can be removed with tugging the delicate eye area.

Lips: I won't lie and say that I'll be wearing red - possibly once over the festive period but I'll stick to y tried and trusted glossy nude lips. I feel like it's my signature look and what suits me best. See some of my favourites here. I'll also add Buxom Lip Gloss or Dior Maximiser to ensure a plump look to the lips.

I would love to hear what your top picks are and if you take your makeup up a notch over the holidays?
