Skin care is one form of self care for me. This extends further than products but not quite as far as injectables for me (never say never but I've resisted thus far!), but it does include the use of tools. I think that it's brilliant that there are so many things we can do at home now, which spare the financial and time expense of going to a salon. For a tool to fit into our lives, it needs to be easy to use, time-efficient and effective. Here are some that I use regularly and love (plus I have some discount codes!)...
Currentbody LED Mask*: This is probably my number one, non-negotiable tool. It has 236 LED lights, which stimulate collagen production and elastin, plus reduce inflammation and improve texture. The lights contain a combination of three different wavelengths, which enable it to target so many skin concerns. I love the liquid silicone formula, which allows the mask to mould better to the face, plus it fits under the chin, which enables collagen production - important as we age and skin slackens. It only takes 10 minutes to use and you can walk around while using it as the power button has a clip (although I personally prefer to take the 10 minutes to switch off!). I have found an improvement in terms of a reduction in pigmentation but also in my skin's integrity; it looks firmer, bouncier and my forehead lines are very fine as a result of using it around 5 times a week. Because of it's flexibility in structure, it's easy to take away when travelling so I never have to miss a session! ZIIP Halo*: Now this is another brilliant device and it has many purposes! The most obvious is lifted and sculpted contours of the face - think jawline, cheeks and even the brow area! It also depuffs the face so the overall result is a slimmer and refined contour. It also helps products to penetrate the skin more deeply. It contains microcurrents, which give instant results, but also nanocurrents for longer term results. You can download an app, which shows you exactly how to use in each area and for how long. It must be used on clean, dry skin and with a conductive gel. At the end of the session, you just wipe off any excess contour gel and finish the skincare routine. It only takes 4 minutes so it's easy to incorporate into your daily routine. I tend to use it in the morning to reduce puffiness and help my face to look more awake and lifted. Gua Sha: I find using a gua sha so relaxing and tend to use it when I'm watching TV. It really helps with lymphatic drainage and gives visible results in a matter of minutes. It is used after cleansing and with a serum or oil. It can be used to relieve a headache, to reduce facial puffiness, and of course, on the dreaded jowls. I used a firm pressure in an up and outward motion on the face and downwards on the neck to stimulate lymphatic drainage. My skin always looks fresh and alive after using. I'm not even sure what brand this is because I have it so long but I have linked one which you can save 21% on at Look Fantastic checkout using my code BEAUTYLYMIN.
Nurse Jamie UpLift Massaging Facial Roller: I have had this for around 7 years and it's still going strong! It's so quick and easy to use and can be used on the face and neck. It features 24 tourmaline quartz stones, which feel instantly cooling and they help to depuff the face quickly. This is an ideal tool to use to relieve puffiness in the under eye area and I also find it brilliant for any sort of tension headache or to help wake me up! It can obviously be used on all contours of the face but I mainly focus on the under eye area. It's so portable so it's ideal to take in your bag and use on your commute (if you have one) or just at any time that you're feeling puffy. It's also great to use over a sheet mask to really help the serum to penetrate the skin.
So there we have it! My favourite beauty tools! I'm also obviously using my Currentbody LED Hair Helmet daily too but it's too soon for me to show you results but I will update you after 3/6 months. I would love to hear what tools you use at home, particularly if you use a microneedling device as that is something that I am particularly interested in. Same goes for at home laser hair removal and radio frequency devices. I'm all ears! The more that we can do at home, the better!
