My Jo Malone fragrance collection

This time last year, I didn't own any Jo Malone products but I've been hooked ever since my husband bought me a bottle of Lime, Basil & Mandarin last April and have added a few more fragrances to my collection since then, or rather, my husband has! Today, I'm going to share my thoughts on the five fragrances that I own and how I like to combine them.

Like I said, Lime, Basil & Mandarin is the fragrance that started my Jo Malone love affair - it is so uplifting, fresh and invigorating. It really lifts my spirits when I spray it and if I could afford to have the candles in this scent in every room in my house, I would! The mandarin counteracts the sharpness of the lime but it still has a zest to it. This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever worn and I would highly recommend it to anybody that likes a fresh, citrus scent. Combines beautifully with Wood Sage & Sea Salt. This is a fragrance that I can see myself repurchasing time and time again.

Next up is Wood Sage & Sea Salt, which is quite a masculine scent in ways. Again, it is quite fresh but not zesty - it is woody, as the name would suggest, and also smells like your hair does after a day at the beach. It tones down the zestiness of Lime, Basil & Mandarin when layered and they complement each other very well.

Pomegranate Noir is a cult Jo Malone fragrance and for that reason, my husband thought that I would love it and bought me a giftset for Christmas, which contained a mini body creme, hand & body wash and a 30ml bottle of the fragrance. It is a much warmer scent than the previous two but so far, I am not loving it because I can strongly smell clove and I really dislike that scent because it reminds me of clove oil, which I used for a very bad toothache about 20 years ago! I looked at the Jo Malone website to see which other fragrances would combine well with it, so I think I will buy English Pear & Freesia to layer with it in the hope that it will hide the clove scent! I would love to know if you have any suggestions on which other fragrance works well with this one?

Peony & Blush Suede is another Jo Malone classic. I find this one difficult to describe because it isn't fresh, nor is it particularly warm or musky. I would describe it as a mature, clean, floral scent but not particularly sweet like some floral fragrances are. I personally am not crazy about wearing this on its own, even though I love it on others  - I like it combined with Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I actually like it more the longer it has been on as it really does last on me.

Finally, I have Nectarine Blossom & Honey . This is an extremely sweet scent, which I think I will wear more in summer. I don't think that it combines very well with the other Jo Malone fragrances that I own, but the next time I am at a Jo Malone counter, I will ask for recommendations because I think I would wear it more often if the intense sweetness was toned down a little.

I also received a birthday gift of an Orange Blossom candle last year, which I have to say really disappointed me because the scent was barely detectable and for €52, I expected a lot more. I don't know if it was just that that particular scent is quite subtle or if I just got a dud but it didn't make me feel the need to try any more form the range. Has anybody else found this with the candles?

In terms of body products, I can't recommend the Geranium & Walnut Body Scrub enough. No other body scrub has ever left my skin so soft and the delicate scent doesn't clash with any of the fragrances. I've reviewed it here.

All Jo Malone products come beautifully packaged with their signature cream and black packaging and ribbons and they really are a luxurious treat, either for yourself or a loved one.

Describing scents is such a tricky thing to do but I hope I have done these beautiful fragrances some justice and have given you an insight into what they are like. Of course, I have many more Jo Malone fragrances on my wishlist: English Pear & Freesia, Blackberry & Bay and Mimosa & Cardamom are the first ones to spring to mind but I would love to hear your recommendations in the comments below! I'd also love to hear what your favourite Jo Malone fragrance is?
