The makeup staples featuring Nars, Marc Jacobs, Clarins, Charlotte Tilbury & more

No matter how many new products I buy, there are still some products that are my default, go-to makeup staples. Products that I grab without having to think too much if I'm in a hurry because I know that I love them and can depend on them. At this stage, I feel that even my husband could choose these if I asked him to throw some makeup in a bag and bring it to me if I wasn't at home because they are my overall most-reached for products. Everybody has makeup staples and today I am sharing mine with you.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: Are you fed up listening to me go on about this yet?! It's been a staple for the best part of 15 years now, maybe even longer. I started using it probably a lot earlier than I needed to as my skin was naturally plump at the time (the beauty of youth!), but I have always had dry skin and have been hooked on this product since I first used it. It brightens, plumps and hydrates the skin and every foundation applies beautifully over it so it is an absolute staple for me.

Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer: Another primer that I reach for a lot and will do so more often as the months go on as it is perfect for summer, due to its light texture. This primer hydrates the skin but it isn't as rich as some of the other primers I use but I also find that it adds to the wear time of my base, which is ideal in the warmer months. I think that all skin types, even those who have oily skin that is also dehydrated would love this.

Nars Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base: This is the only primer that I have tried (and I have tried a lot, believe me!) that works on my oily lid/watery eye combination. My shadows literally do not budge with this - no smudging, fading or creasing. I don't think any other eye primer will make me sway from this.

Hourglass Blushes: I would go as far as saying that these are my favourite blush formulation that I've tried. They are pigmented, silky soft, apply and blend well and last a long time on my skin. They also brighten my complexion and I generally look more alive and healthy when I wear these. I love both the ambient lighting blushes and the new strobe lighting blushes. They are expensive but they are worth it in my opinion. If you can, try to buy a palette so that you can have three blushes for versatility.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow: I love the gentle definition I can achieve with this palette - I tend to go for that over a stronger contour these days and the highlight part is absolutely beautiful in terms of texture and colour. It isn't going to give a "can be seen from outer space" glow but the natural glow that it gives is very flattering so it can be worn during the day as well as in the evening.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Pillow Talk: This liner is the closest I've found to my natural lip colour and I love that it doesn't drag on the lips or dry them out if I wear all over rather than just on the outline. If I dont have a liner to match my lipstick, I will just wear this as it is so close to my own lip colour and of course, I love the matching lipstick.

YSL Rouge Volupté Lipstick #1 Nude Beige: This is my all time favourite lipstick and the one I grab most often on days when I don't want to have to spend much time deciding what to put on my face. It goes with practically every makeup look and it is the perfect pinky-nude for my skin tone and it is so comfortable to wear - moisturising without being too slippy. I need to buy a back up because I have only been able to find them on the YSL site - everywhere else seems to only stock the new shine version of these lipsticks.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara: I adore this mascara for the false lash effect it gives. It is basically everything I could want in a mascara - very black, doesn't smudge, doesn't flake, doesn't make my lashes crispy, adds lots of volume and holds a curl. If you like a natural lash look, this is not the one for you but if, like me, you like the false lash look, you need to try it!
