Contouring made easy! Smashbox Step by Step Contour Stick Trio review

I generally use powder products to contour and I previously reviewed the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit here, which I love but I found that I was not using the highlight powders. Also with my skin being so dry, I was keen to try a cream contour but wasn't very excited about any cream contour products I had seen until I saw Tati from Glam Life Guru use this Smashbox Step by Step Contour Stick Trio set.

The set contains 3 sticks: one to contour, one to bronze and one to highlight. It also contains a pencil sharpener and a guide to show where best to apply the products depending on your face shape: heart, oval, rectangle, round and square, which I think is a brilliant addition to any contour kit.

The product itself is very creamy and very easy to blend and therefore looks very natural. I use my dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend the product in, but I am sure a brush would work too but I have never found a contouring brush that I love. These sticks are so easy to use, that I think they would be brilliant for contouring beginners and those who are just not confident with contouring. After blending, I set with Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and the products do not budge. I adore the contour & bronze sticks, but for highlighting I would still prefer MAC Prep & Prime in Light Boost for the under eye area & Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight for my cheekbones.

What are your favourite products for contouring & highlighting?

  1. I prefer to contour with powder so I have the Smashbox Step-By-Step Countour kit (looks like it has the exact same shades as the pencils). I love how Smashbox always includes a guide for beginners. It's really helpful. xx Izzy | http://qthee.com/
