A new love and a disappointment from Olaplex

A new love and a disappointment from Olaplex

If you'e read my blog for any amount of time, you will know that I love Olaplex products. I'm pretty sure that I have tried every product they've released, so naturally I wanted to try the two latest. The lash serum was released first and I used that for around 10-12 weeks and I've been using the Volumising Mist every time I've washed my hair since it arrived! Now on to my thoughts....

Olaplex LashBond Building Serum: I had lash extensions for the majority of the time since the. second lockdown lifted and decided I wanted to take a break, or possibly finish with them completely because I was eager to use mascara again, but also I think that I began to see so many bad sets of lash extensions everywhere that I thought they looked so awful! My lash technician is excellent but I always preferred how they looked after a week or two, which was telling me that I was leaning towards a look that I could achieve with mascara, so I decided to bite the bullet and stop getting them done. I knew that after having repeated extensions for so long, that my natural lashes would probably have suffered and decided to buy a serum to help them grow. Lash serums were one of my hero products during lockdown. It just so happened that this one was released around this time and given my love for the brand, I thought I'd give it a go. It's quite pricey at £64 (however can be reduced with my BEAUTYLYMIN code if purchased on Look Fantastic), but it does contain twice the amount of product compared to most serums and you do need to use for quite a while to notice a difference usually. I left this with my skincare and used it morning and night, religiously, for around 10-12 weeks. I have read so many brilliant reviews of this serum but sadly for me, it did nothing, or at least nothing very noticeable. It didn't live up to any of the promises of lash density, length or volume. I was very disappointed, particularly given how much I love and rate all of the other products in this brand! I then switched to another lash serum brand, which I had used previously, and noticed a difference in length within a few weeks. Sadly, this isn't for me but so many people swear by it so maybe it's worth trying for yourself. I'd love to hear if you've used it and found good results in the comments below! If you want to try it, save 21% with my Look Fantastic discount code - BEAUTYLYMIN.

Olaplex Volumising Blow Dry Mist: From the title of this post, you'll know that because the serum disappointed me, I love this blow dry mist! This is a multi-purpose product because it provides heat protection whilst also speeding up drying time but it also helps to add some volume to the hair. As I've said previously, I have fine hair but a lot of it and it's quite long, which can mean that it can have a tendency to look a little flat. The problem that I have with a lot of styling products is that they feel sticky or generally just feel like I have product in my hair, which is a feeling that I hate. However, with this mist, I don't feel any of that  - my hair doesn't feel weighed down and also doesn't feel crispy. I apply the mist all over, however I do tend to focus it on my root areas most and then use a different product for frizz control at the ends. This product definitely gives my roots some lift so that it looks swishy and like I've had a salon blow dry, or that I have thicker hair. I love it and find that I don't need to use very much, so this should last quite a while! Again you can save 21% by using my code BEAUTYLYMIN at the checkout on Look Fantastic.

Have you tried either of these products? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
