By Terry Brightening CC Palette - Beach Bomb. Review & Swatches

Last year when By Terry released their Spring collection, the Brightening CC Palette was the star of the show (review and swatches here) - it sold out so quickly, re-stocked and sold out in an instant again and then I think it was re-stocked just before Christmas. It was one of my favourite makeup purchases from last year, so when I saw that a new one was being released this year - Beach Bomb, I wanted t immediately. My sensible head told me that I didn't need it as I'm nowhere even near hitting pan on last year's, but the shades are just so pretty, so I caved! Plus I used a discount code on it. My LYMIN code will save you 20% if you buy it on Look Fantastic.

There's no doubting that By Terry is a luxury brand (with a matching price tag), however when you feel the products, you know that they are quality - you're not just paying for the name. This palette has an exquisite geometric design on the front and has rose gold casing. The inside of the lid is a full sized mirror, and there are four brightening powders - a highlighter, two blushes and a bronzer, all with a beautiful rose design on them.

The texture of the powders is absolutely beautiful - so finely milled, that there is no way you could have any patchiness on your face. They contain rosehip oil, which helps to hydrate the skin and ensure that you don't have that cakey finish that some powders give. They all give the skin a 'lit from within' look, which doesn't look glittery or overly dewy.

As you can see from the swatches above, the powders are beautifully pigmented - not too light, but not too heavy either. The highlighter is quite subtle, making it perfect for day wear. It really lifts the complexion, without being too in your face and it works beautifully with the coral blush. These two make for my perfect summer complexion duo, and the coral blush is also beautiful as an eyeshadow, when combined with the bronzer, which is warm, but not too deep. The bright pink is actually more wearable than it looks in the pan - for some people, this would be their perfect blush, but because I generally prefer corals, I was a little worried about this one initially, but with a light hand, it works well on me when I'm (fake) tanned.

The overall look is a filtered, soft focus glow. All of the powders compliment each other and it's sufficiently different from last year's for me to justify owning both. The only complaint I have is that I wish that several were released to suit all skin tones - this works for me, but may not work for those with very fair skin, or people of colour. I hope that will be improved upon with the next collection.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this? Is it something that would tempt you? It's limited edition and I have a feeling that it won't be available for very long, so if you do want to buy it, don't forget that you can save 20% with my LYMIN code on Look Fantastic, but it's also available from other retailers.
